backlinks gone

Hi there! Did anyone experience that backlinks suddenly disappeared?

I am maintaining a new website that already had 400 backlinks, but just yesterday when i checked with SEO quake (usual tool that i use), it went down to 103 but it still maintains its page1 position.

What seems to happen and will i ever get back those missing backlinks?

Thanks! :-)

  • Yes, this happened a few days ago. This may be due to Yahoo getting it's search information from Bing now.

  • The same happens with Market Samurai. Anybody has idea of what is going on here?

    Thank you!!

    • Read 1 post above yours. MS gets it's backlink data from yahoo site explorer...
  • Don't worry the backlinks haven't disappeared, this has happened across the board to all my sites and its becuase of the data supplied by Yahoo.

This happens periodically and then the data returns back to normal. However, with the new Yahoo/Bing changes recently, who knows if the data source has changed..

To get better backlink data, I recommend you check out "Majestic SEO". It has a small monthly charge to use it, but for any serious SEO its dynamite...

    • Any tool collecting data from Yahoo! site explorer will face this problem since Yahoo! is undergoing a phase in which is it showing lesser backlinks compared to normal.

Don't confuse this with Google - I don't know whether Yahoo! is seeling the links or not, but that is completely indepenent of whether Google sees these links or not.
  • thank you for your replies... i just hope everything will be back to normal.

I will surely check out Majestic SEO, i have been hearing good things about this also. :-)
