Hello Warriors,

I just wanted to know where you get most of your traffic from. With all the major changes with Google, is anyone migrating elsewhere?

If so, where????

Thanks in advance,

Carlo

True, i am getting great traffic from Social medias, like FB, MySpace, Squidoo etc.
Now using ping.fm to send updates in all the popular medias, so far the results have been satisfactory

Very true, getting a lot of traffic from social media!
However, Google is still king, then again, I deal with quality sites only so that might be the reason.

Social Bookmarking sites are best source of free traffic, but main target is to get good position on Google and get traffic, it takes time but when get first page appearance always gives targeted traffic.

Thanks for your input! Is anyone still using Google Adwords? If you are in the IM/Make money niche, how are you readjusting you're campaign?

The reason I ask is because I've been using free methods, but wanted to kick it up a notch with paid methods like PPC.

During my work on several projects (of several niches) I found an inconsistent
behavior for different projects. Like for online casinos, when my websites was struggling to rank at the first page, I was still getting a targetting traffic from social media. Not to mention, the timely email campaigns which have helped me in achieving "targeted customers".

For most of the projects, google ,bing and blogs are top sources.

Image optimization can be a major source of traffic. People often ignore images optimization and and mostly concentrate on text links.

I would say that 80% of my traffic is coming from G and another close to 5%+ from the country specific G sites combined. 5-10% from Google News engine. I get a little referral traffic but nothing to speak of and a few returning visitors every day. And just a few from Twitter.

Majority of my traffic is from SEO and backlinking methods. So organic result listings and just a few visitors from all the articles, social bookmarking, etc.

There are however many different ways to get traffic to your website.

    Hi,

I'm just getting going and the informaiton here really helps me think about how to spend my hard earned pesos and my highly valued time. The thing that interestes me is not not only much how you break down the % of traffic coming from different sources but what sort of indiciative traffic volume is this producing - if I'm asking people to reveal 'sensitive' info then I'm sorry - certaily don't mean to stomp on etiquette here but if everyone was willing to at least give some idea of traffic volume associated with a given percentage, it would really help! Am I being cheeky? - I don't mind if the niche the traffic is coming from isn;t mentioned but it would be interesting to just see the levels of traffic that's being generated?

Humble forgiveness sought in advance for possibly tresspassing on forbidden ground

    Thanks everyone

    from your local greenhorn!!

web site content is the no1 topic for content, if you have good content to explore then people will come to you, no need to publish the web site any where, they will take your content and will publish it

You're actually able to monetize that junk traffic?

A ton of my traffic comes from Google on most of my sites, I have generally failed at social marketing for most of my sites, the best I have achieved is in the region of 5% for some of my blogs, 95% or more of my non referral traffic comes from Google and I view it as a MAJOR risk, this post of traffic sources shows a breakdown of one of my sites.

I get strange fluctuations from my article marketing depending on the niches etc which I guess is to be expected but being dependant on Google in such a massive way makes me very nervous at times. On two of my sites I have done exceptionally well with hubpages but still not breaking more than 20% of total traffic

That said, I do attribute it to the level of traffic, on low traffic sites my traffic is far more diverse but the moment I reach the 3000+ unique per month mark it starts becoming very search engine heavy and obviously that means mostly Google.

Generally my traffic breakdowns at the 5000 unique mark will be 85% search engines, 5% direct and 10% referral/social
