Why don't we have any Search Engine Traffic?

Hello Warriors,

If you are lazy, read only the bold parts

We (me and my colleague) have a huge problem with our website. After couple of months of very regular writing, link building, social bookmarking etc., we're still getting less than 10% of our traffic from the search engines.

We have little under 100 published articles with most of the keywords researched in Market Samurai for low competition and middle to high traffic.

We have followed The Challenge, so we should have some basic skills and knowledge how it works + we're actively implementing it.

We have setup Google Webmaster Tools with sitemap with automatic notifications to search engines when article is published.

When I look in Google Analytics, the #1 KW is "submitting identical articles to directories" and second one is "stumble it". Everything below got less than 5 clicks in past 3 months. These results are rubbish and probably more like an accident than a result of our focused effort.

My question is, what the hell are we missing? Why do you think we don't have any search engine traffic?

The website url is Darthopia - Internet Affiliate Marketing

** edit **: I just realized one thing that we are totally missing and that is internal links. We have only couple of articles that link to each other.

Do you think that adding something like relevant posts to each article could help the overall site visibility? I've read somewhere long time a go that if you have a lot of content, internal links can bring you up to around PR4-5

  • I will respond to your questions thus:

    1. the performance of your website depends on the niche you are targeting

    2. the money you make depends on the number of pages on your website. For the niche you are targeting, pages less than 100 may not be enough to bring the right amount of traffic that would bring you money.

    3. do the pages have backlinks? If the pages are just sitting on your site without reference from other websites, the pages may not be qualified enough to appear in the search engines

The beauty is that you will end up with pages optimized for pretty much every eventuality. Each one of those pages will eventually become the doorway to your site via the search engines.

Keep doing what you are doing i.e. Keep writing and posting quality content on your website.

Hi I went to your site... I love it !!! Nice job...

I did a little digging and here is what I found...

Out of all of your external links only 2 are allowed to be followed.
Make sure you can be followed...

If you can not understand this, Let me know I will try to explain it better.

I also copied and pasted the report to this message, however I was told it had links in it. Sorry I couldn't send it,,

If you would like to look at it just leave me a pm

That's quite nice out of the box thinking However Google Webmaster Tools didn't show any problems with crawling the website.

Why don't you do a one or two week trial where you show a few complete posts, and see if that makes a positive difference?
Actually up until last week we had whole articles displayed on the main page. We just changed it to shorter display to make it easier for readers to go through the articles.

But I see where you are going with this, it probably wouldn't be bad idea to have at least the first article with longer description.

I'm not sure what you mean. If you're talking about nofollow attribute, we just added it to most external links to make our own internal linking stronger.

Would be great if you could PM me or email me the report

Thanks for all the responses so far. I've realized one other thing that we're missing, but I'm not sure how relevant it is, check out the update in first post.

    I have two thoughts.

    1. Your main page takes a long time to fully load. There was a long wait for content from stats dot buysellads dot com. This poor performance may be working against you.

    2. Your main page has lots of backlinks, but not much content. You're only showing a few lines from each post. There is no big block of text, that makes it clear what your site is relevant for. Why don't you do a one or two week trial where you show a few complete posts, and see if that makes a positive difference?

I agree with Patey88, the website looks a bit graphic intensive, I especially do not like how the posts are spaced apart from each other and have very little text to show tell me what the post is about. Adjust the posts so less is shown per page, and more text is what I would do.

I specifically write every article in a way that the first paragrahp clearly shows what is it about, that's why it's visible at all...could you give some examples which one is exactly suffering from the flaw you described?
