Target another Keyword?

I have site in which the domain uses the keyword I wanted to rank for, I used SEO and now it is on page 1, spot #2 out of 56 million competition (I say that loosely based on G results). Now, is it possible to get the home page of this site on page 1 for another keyword (competition of about 4 million)? If so, do I follow the same steps I did to get on page 1 for the other kw? Thank you.
