many website designers put a hot link to their own website at the bottom of every page they create for a client's website. does having multiple links back to the designer's website pass on more link juice than if there was only onle hot link back to the designer's website?

Yes, it does and then if those websites are on different IP addresses it's even more power to your elbow.

    The short answer is yes.

That's kind of a shotgun approach to things and the link on the home page will carry a lot more weight that the links on those inner pages but they all add some value.

Yes, and it helps. And, depending on the #of pages in the website, it may help more. Not sure, just a theory. A 100 page site could show 100 links vs a one pager showing one links. All other things being equal, whether the links from 100 pager out rank the the links from the one pager, I don't know.

ok - here is the thing - it does not help the client of the webdesigner, as it is the client giving away link juice and page rank. thanks guys.

I link back to the clients website - because they are my client after all!

If they cease to be my customer I stop linking to them but my link on their site remains until they replace their website - which can be a very long time later and even then, designers usually do not delete the old site because it belongs to the client. So that little link can be working for a while.

BUT before you think that that is a bad thing....the client is benefiting from the power of my link to them as long as it lasts.
