I'm pretty much a layperson with a website . I've read a lot about SEO, and am experimenting to see if I can make my site do well with AdSense. I was wondering whether more experienced people than myself think it is possible to make decent money through AdSense in just about any niche, providing that you have the right strategy?

I opted to run a site that is rather specialized. It should not be difficult to rank well in the SERPs because of this, but I realize that it might not have as much AdSense potential as topics that are not as specific?

I also think that there are certain audiences who simply don't click on ads as easily. What do you think about this?

As long as you update your blog regular and there are visitors you can make money in any niche. However, it is hard for some niche to make good money because each click may be as low as $0.1 per click.

I actually get around 30 cents per click, but the problem is a lack of clicks. What do you think is a good click through rate?

My average per click is around $1. You are right about the click through rate is low. That's why you need to work on traffic and promote heavily, work on your SEO and when there are more traffic to your site, your pay check gets bigger.

I don't think you can make "decent" adsense money in any niche. If there are no advertisers, irrelevant ads will be shown. The CPC must be high enough(subjective), with a stable amount of advertisers, and the traffic must be looking to buy+click.

A site I run for fun gets a lot of traffic and it makes less than other "Adsense sites" I have made with low traffic. I threw in some adsense and it makes $1-5 a month. Useless! It's more of an entertainment site than shopping/info/education. Probably better off doing cpm ads at that rate, but I don't really care.

The earning from Adsence is totally base on your visitor. If you have UK/US base visitor then you surely earn good amount of money because google pay highr ctr for US/UK based visitor. When think about create website for earn online , make sure you are targeting world wide visitor.

I've found that you can make money with just about any niche with adsense. If you want to make more money you might want to target keywords that will get a high cpc. You don't always need a lot of traffic as their are some keywords that pay $5+ per click in certain niches.

Can you do it in any niche? No!

Your success with adsense from a $$$ point of view depends greatly on the niche.

Shortest answer I can give: In niches that are product based - not so much. In niches that are service based - you can kill it.

That is a VERY general answer with lots of exceptions based mainly on price points.

In niches that people are looking for physical or digital products, I always make more $ by not using AdSense.

In service based niches (especially for high dollar/recurring fees) AdSense has been bery bery good to me.

Niche matters. Niche competition matters. Niche traffic matters. go and check in google adwords keyword tool for the good paying CPC niche. Do something that you personally have knowledge of.

    Bonusdays,
Can you elaborate on the service based niches? What would be a good example of that type of site - that is high cost and recurring fees?

    Thanks!

Don't let anyone fool you, they're all talking about on 1 site. But imagine if you made just $5/day in AdSense on MANY sites. It's a good strategy.

Success in adsense is a long term thing. With more traffic and the right keyword,at the long run,one can make something but not a quick thing.Result do vary with adsense.Sometimes I made €0.95 per click and sometimes like today,I have €0.08 per click(the lowest ever for me) with the same site.I think the amount paid per click depend on the amount been paid by each adword advertiser per click.

at just .30 per click you will need a lot of traffic to see any decent profits. for instance I have a site that earns roughly $5.60 per click so I don't need as much traffic to make $20 per day, I would just need around 200 visitors since my CTR is 2%
