AdSense and tracking stats conflict question

I was just looking at my stats and I see my most popular article is on on Facetime for Mac. My StatsCounter tells me I have had over 1,200 visits to that article. Yet when I look at that channel on AdSense it tells me I have had less than 200.

That is a little more than a little discrepancy. I wonder how there can be so much difference. Makes me wonder how much more is AdSense missing? I have seen numerous exit links to Googleads.q.doubleclick that never got credited to my account.

Any thoughts?

  • The way Statscounter records visits is different from the way Google records visits and credits your adsense acount. Stascounter can record visits by bots while Google does not see that as a visit for which to credit your account.

Thats possible reason, but as you told there are not bot visitors in your stats. Install another counter and check if there is still big difference between new counter and adsense stats.

I don't get that many bots in a day. There has to be something else to it than that.

If someone clicks on a AdSense Link product that click wont be counted on AdSense unless they click the link on the second page. I confirmed that with AdSense.

If you have people trying to "help you" with your adsense, adsense will detect that and not give you credit.

There can be many reasons AdSense doesn't give you credit. If they click doesn't look real to them they wont give you credit. I see people trying to help me. They click four or five ads in 20 seconds. I wish I could reach in and slap their mouse hand. That wont help you!

AdSense is not the place to monitor your traffic. Google Analytics is better. If you're using WordPress then getting a good plugin is essential. I tried many but the only one that works well for me is Google Analytics For Wordpress.

If you go to reports in your AdSense account you'll see a metric for "coverage" I haven't cracked exactly what that is nor why it is not 100%.

Am I showing a lot of charity ads? I suspect that is it. I did recently develop my own product so now I have AdSense server ads for that when they can't match my content to their advertisers. You could put an affiliate ad in there area too.

Don't let Google serve charity ads, setup alternate ads.
