How to Buy Links?

Sorry if that title is general, or if this is the wrong place. I searched for an answer for this...read for an hour and a half, bought a WSO :rolleyes: and now have to get on with it.

I have an SEO client and was looking at his competitions links...clearly, they are buying them.

I want in on this game, as I've never tried, but think it could be very helpful, especially if done on a site by site basis.

My questions are;

1. What's the pricing structure? As in, does it vary by pagerank, what page it's on, if it's in-text, if i provide the content etc...I understand thats a lot of factors, but hopefully I can get some general guidelines.

2. How can I suss out bad sites? Are there ones I should stay away from? How can you tell?

Thats all for now...if there's anything else I'll ask, but the rest seems straightforward, though any addtional insight is appreciated.

  • Higher the PR the more you pay... Index pages are worth more too... a High PR (5+) index page will be worth the most.

    You can go out find find sites and ask for a link yourself... or use a link broker.

    I don't like sites that do not limit the amount of links they will sell per page. I also don't like placing my trust in a link broker.

    Contact the sites your competitor is buying links from and see what they are charging. If you do find a site you like make sure to be prepared to pay for at least 3-6 months worth to see the true value of the link. Also ask for a discount when paying in 3/6 month increments.

    Also ALWAYS make sure the PR of the domain is true before buying a link. You can do this by searching "info:www.domainyouwantlinkfrom.com" and if the first result is the same domain you searched than the PR is real more than likely.

    And thats it in a nutshell.

    I would like to stay away from brokers...I don't see what value a middle man would add. I just don't know what a fair price is, and don't want to get hosed.

    I guess it's just one of those try and see things.

    • Do your research by asking a bunch of sites that sell links. That will give you an idea of basic pricing... I often like to approach small developer sites that have gained high PR who have no idea about PR or selling links. I get some amazing deals from these people and I control how much I'M willing to pay them
