Submitting to eBook directories for traffic

Hey folks, quick question

It seems that all these eBook directories want a link to their site in order for me to submit my ebook. Is it worth it? Will it hurt my rankings to have all these outbound links to ebook directories?

Thanks in advance

If you must add them to your site then just add rel="nofollow" attribute to the link so you don't leak any PR / link juice

You can also put the link at a very insignificant place in your site like the footer. But to ask, have you check enough for the ones that won't ask for reciprocal links from you,it would be better and also you will surely find them if you take your time to search for it on google. You can also use doctoc.com and scribd.com,they are better than most ebook directory, your submission can also rank well with these two.

Interesting. I have to say I'm very skeptical about free ebook submissions to increase traffic to your sites. But you never know if it works until you do it (I've also submitted torrents of my free Ebooks to major torrent sites, wonder if that'll work? Time will tell). I just submitted to docstoc.com today, and will submit to scribd.com very soon. Will see if I can get em to rank too ^^.

I agree, using document sharing sites may be a better choice for backlinks and traffic without having to deal with reciprocal links.

Free-ebooks.net is one of the best ebook directories. They don't require a reciprocal link, but its $20 to submit your ebook.

Hello Amy. How is Free-ebooks.net one of the best ebook directories? I'm tempted to submit my best free Ebook to see if this is true. Thanks for the tip.

I'll take a look at these document sharing sites. Kim Roach listed a few on this forum.

I think Free-ebooks.net is one of the most highly visited and visible ebook sites out there, they do quite a bit of promotion. Also, I think the submission fee cuts down on some of the clutter for authors.

For example, I put two ebooks up, one about a year ago, and it has about 5500 downloads from that site. The other one I put up about 4 months ago in a different niche and it has about 2500 downloads.
