Adsense/CTR/Adunits Math help

Hey guys, I've been using adsense on my main website for over a year now and I'm trying to tweak it to get the most out of it. On my main page for the first 5 months or so I had 2 main add blocks which got a click through rate of just under 20% in the month of July. In august I added some of the small text link block that link to a page of adsense adverts. Having looked at the stats today for the month of August my main adverts blocks CTR went down to around 10% and this small text link was getting around 4.7% but more impressions.

If I double the value of the 10% and it works out to more than the value of the 4.7% should I just take away the small link units?

Thanks for your time.

If adding link units doubled or tripled your income, why not?

But it is general knowledge that the lesser ad units/blocks you have, the more you earn per click.

20 % CTR is excellent by the way, according to AdSense "standards".

Yeah its around 10-11% now I've added the other one line google adverts. But I guess that's still decent considering im getting about 4% CTR with the link units from that page. I've got a fishing related website with around 500 uniques a day but I'm lucky if i get two clicks a day.
