Optimising a website - bit of a problem...
- SEO |
Firstly, I am (still) a newbie so please excuse me if some questions seem a touch odd!
I have a non-monetized website, set-up for my offline business 5 years ago. It is not a WordPress site, but a "normal" (HTML?) site.
It is not easily found on Google although it is indexed. It's domain name is not keyword-rich or based on typical search terms for my niche. I have set it up on Google Maps but still can't find it when making a typical search through Google. I would really appreciate advice on the following with a view to get it ranking in the SERPS:
- Should I purchase a domain name which is based on typical search terms people input when trying to find my type of business, and simply have it pointing (redirected?) to my existing site? Will this do anything to the existing site's rankings?
- Or should I purchase such a domain name and set-up a WP site optimize it for my keyword/domain name (which I would not use as a blog, more just as a non-monetized advertisement site just for my business) and do all the on-page & off-page optimisation then include a link to my original site?
- The aim here is to get my original site ranking. But I don't think its the type of site than can be optimised in the way WordPress can with H1 & H2 tags etc.
Thanks -
