What kind of criteria do you have to meet to register an .EDU domain anyway? I mean I know you have to be a school of some sort but who's to say I don't have a School for Internet Marketers? Does anyone know the criteria you have to meet before you can get an .EDU domain?

There are loads of unmoderated .edus, I use a special google search formula and find them

Location isn't really a qualifying factor, well unless your applying for a .edu in the UK (ac.uk) when you live in the US and have no physical UK presence.

One of the issues with setting up a IM college would be you need a physical property as well as courses that carry some official accreditation with the country your applying to.

There are some but they're quickly overrun by porn and male enhancement spammers (not to mention regular IM folks who believe a .edu link is the lucky charm that will lead to riches) and lose any outbound link authority.

I think the EDU must have some sort of authority though. I was only saying that it would be easier for me to qualify because one of their accreditation services was called "New England something or other"......Anyway I have no desire to have an EDU domain. I just want to post on them.
