Just a bit of advice, I'm sure a lot of people already know but completely ignore their competition bar, it's completely wrong nearly all the time.

    • Agreed. I rarely rely on the competition bar, just use the search counts and use other tools for competition.
  • I've found hundreds of keywords that show up as high competition but when you look at the top 10, all the results are sub-domains, with no PR and under 25 backlinks.

    It pays to check, seriously.

    • The competition bar shows the competition the keyword has in Adwords, not the search engines.

      High competition means there are a lot of people bidding on the keyword in Adwords.

      The Google keyword tool was built for PPC marketers, remember?
