Can someone tell me why this website is ranking so high?

Basically a friend of mine would like some work done to his website to increase its ranking on Google. I said I will give it a go instead of him paying someone loads to do it, obviously if I can't do it he will pay someone. Now I think I know the basics of SEO and we're not talking high competition keywords so I think I can have a good stab at it.

I was wondering though how this website is ranking so highly - Cooker Repair Service

For example search cooker repair on google, or cooker repair essex.

I just can't figure it out, any help would be great

no real inlinks, so probably just the keywords in the domain name. should be able to take it out easily with some link building.

Keyword phrase in domain, only 1370 results for allintitle: cooker repair. They did have about 30 (sort of backlinks) but most of the sites are dead. 12200 phrase match. So, low competition and phrases in domain.
There are only 5 results allintitle for cooker repair essex

That's made me happy. I couldn't find any inlinks so I thought it was due to the name and keywords on the page as there are a few packed in there.

      Cheers guys

Yeah, they're not holding on with much. You can totally wreck them.

I agree with everyone else: it's because some of the keywords you're searching are hyphenated in the domain name.

    PR = 1
    Dofollow backlinks = 5
    No 301 redirect
    Domain is two years old

I don't know what you people are looking at.
Cooker is a British term. Makes sense a British website is tops.
Hence, they look for uk extensions.

Do a search for cooker repair in the States, and ovens, rice, or gas cookers
      come up.

If your site is in the UK, more power to you.

If you are going for world wide traffic, nobody is going to care about
a site doing cooker repairs in the UK. So that point is moot.

Google even changed my search words in the SERPs to ovens.
Those clever googlians know we call 'em ovens.

The whole thing is ridiculous. You won't get shinola unless you are
a local company doing cooker repairs, or a national chain. That's why
all local ads came up for me, as well as google maps.

Cheers for the response paul. Just to let you know it is a local UK company. Also, I call it an oven not a cooker but that's hardly relevant

It's relevant depending on where you are at. And I most assuredly would get a uk
domain extension, and hosting server in the UK. But I'm sure you are already there!

Good luck with that! Cheers to you to!

Hope you come back and show us when you are above it.

Yes i agree with all of them that the keyword is in the domain name.
    You can obviously see it.
But the age of the site is also a big factor here, its hard to compete to someone that's been their for a long time.

Less than two years is hardly a long time.

Well the domain name is big part of it also the fact its not a competitive niche plays a big part.
