Hi guys n gals,

I forget the command for checking backlinks in Google.
is it link:http:// somedomain dot com
or is it link: space http:// somedomain dot com ??

(I added spaces in those examples because the WF script turns urls into anchor text or something)

what other commands are there?

intitle ?

I forget the correct snytax
#search engine optimization #backlinks #command #google #linkdomain
  • It's link: space www.anydomain.com

    • That is incorrect, there is no space between link: and the domain name. It should be link:domainname.com

Also, just a side note, but the link: operator is not a very effective means in finding what links google has found for your site. You are better off using yahoos site explorer, open site explorer from seomoz or even your own google webmaster tools account.

There are many other operators and a good reference for some good ones is here: Google Power User Tips: Query Operators

    • I found that if you have a domain name with exact keywords, after entering that command in Google Search, you will see sites listed which actually don't have any physical links back to you, but show the exact keyword search terms high-lighted.

That is when you have a 'space' in-between' link: and the domain :-)

    • wrong.....
  • You might want to take a look at Blekko:
    blekko | slashtag search

It will show links Google doesn't, in fact,
their search engine seems to be targeted at
    tech people and internet marketers.

  • Yeah it's link:domain

Though as someone mentioned above it's not the best for this kind of thing.

Scrape box is always a good way to check backlinks I've found
  • yeah this is the correct way of checking backlinks manually in google - link:domain
its either: link:www or link:http same results
  • its better using yahoo site explorer rather than using this google operator.

    • Mate Yahoo has closed this service for showing back links.
  • Link:yordomain.com
    Links:yourdomain.com

  • It's very helpful to have a look at what your competitors are upto too
  • I just thought I would make it clear that no tool is 100% accurate at showing backlinks its immposible to see all of your backlinks. No tool can do this. Google doesn't reveal all the backlinks it finds to your site
