Lost my adsense

the dreaded happened and my account was disabled, now i have to figure out how to replace $1000 a month. Good news they said they would pay me the $735 they owe me so its not a total lose.

However i did learn alot the last two years so a transition should be easy.I think everything happens for a reason and once i get back on my feet i think iwill be better offf making more money.

Still kind of reeling from it all but looking at objectively i should have done some things differently.

  • I am sorry to hear about this, I am really quite shocked. This would be the first time I heard that an Adsense account had been disabled for "MFA" sites. I myself have received two warning letters already albeit to domains that have expired.

    Just as a last resort, you could consider contacting a member of the Google Adsense team through Webmasterworld. The Google staff is the OP of the thread here. I have managed to get my account reinstated this way before by asking him for help.

    This happened to me earlier this year, Google disabled my Adsense account. The problem was I have several different web properties under that single login, so everything went out. I followed their instructions to file a reinstatement appeal. No response after a couple of submissions and a couple of months. I looked over my logs and determined it was possible that my publisher ID code was being used by someone else. Then I figured out how to restrict the sites that my publisher ID can be displayed, sent another message to Google, and it was only a few weeks later they unblocked my account.

    Everything is up and running again, but I decided to scale back and regroup. Instead of having Adsense on every site, I removed pretty much everything, and have been slow to put it back, one page at a time. The main issue for me, is the blocked account was a wake up call to explore other money earning ideas. For example, running your own paid advertisers that you seek out personally has given me the best results.

    On another note, they blocked my Adsense account just before reaching the threshold for payout that month. So much for trying to keep a budget and planning ahead.
  • I was banned by adsense as well and was the best thing ever as I switched over to CPM and I am making more than I was making with adsense.
  • In the email they said they would pay me so i assume i will get my money. I really do not want to try and get my account back. I have a few sites that would fit well with some great selling clickbank products. So one sale a day would actually put me farther ahead.

    Everything happens for a reason and i have to take advantage of what happened and turnit around.

    I do feel weird not checking my adsense stats though?

    • So what do you attribute to the loss of your adsense account? Too many mini adsense sites under one account? The placement of Adesene under titles? Did you have unique content per site or did you just put PLR articles? Right now I have like 20+ of these niche sites which use Adsense under one account. I do have unique and informative pages on all the sites. Are you able to pimpoint what ultimately caused this? How long were you doing the adsense method wit your sites?
  • some unaltered PLR on ugly little templates. I also had a 2000 page mortgage site with unique content that i signed up under and never had a problem so ultimately i think the ugly sites with to much PLR scream MFA and Google pulled the plug.

    I also had a site about adjustable mortgages that had 8 or so pages of tottally unique content i wrote so its not like all my sites were PLR? anyone want a high paying niche target adjustable mortgages i was getting 2.50 to $3 per click on average and its full of people looking for solutions to their problems

      How much are you asking for the mortgage site? I have been looking for a good one for a while.

  • Oh man, you have my condolences. I run click fraud protection scripts on every site I have Adsense on and I go out of my way to make it unique and TOS compliant, I would flip if they banned me but I doubt they would.

    Would you be willing to share the reason for the ban? And maybe what you think could have been done to avoid it?

    I would go with yahoo as a replacement, I use their ad network as well as Google's and though it does not earn as much for me it is still great.

    Hope you can turn this problem into a learning experience and be better and richer because of it...
  • I have got more than 500 sites like Captivereef's and most have already been de-indexed by Google. I have received 2 warning letters already although they were for domains that have expired. So I would imagine that I am in the firing line as well. Most of my Adsense are from 3 quality sites that can in no way be considered as MFA, I hope that they will spare these sites.

    The term "Made for Advertisement" is extremely difficult to define. I asked a Google Adsense representative while they were doing a seminar in Hong Kong and he said it was completely up to the Adsense team to define. Even if a site has hundreds of pages of unique content, it can still be defined as "MFA"

      Adsense has really gotten under my skin lately. It seems like if you have more than 2 ad blocks on your site then Google starts getting really picky with you, at least thats been my experience.

      I've started to move away from adsense myself. There so many other great alternatives now.

      I would say with your experience writing unique content you could probably do well with affiliate marketing. There are now clickbank ad rotators as well and amazon. You might look into CPA as well.

  • i really have to believe it was like anything the last few years. Out of control but everyone was making money so nobody cared. BUt now that things have tightened up they need to look at it closer.

    I think Google is weeding out those smaller niche sites and only wants adsense on larger sites like ezinearticles and such. Just my opinion.

    It was a fun run while it lasted for me though. I made over $12000 in about 22 months so i cannot complain much.
  • i did replace all my adsense ads with clickbank ad boxes. you know it actually feels kinda good not having to worry about google and all that TOS crap.
  • Unless you work for Google how would you know this? I did not do any blackhat stuff. Only article marketing and organic search engine traffic. I did have some sites with ads under the title but cleaned that up after i got a warning. Other then that i have no idea. I never bought traffic or did three way links or anything like that. Just small 40 page niche sites with 1 or 2 ad blocks on them, could of been the content did not read well who knows. Bottom line is that its happening to alot of people right now so something is up.

  • you can put ads under titles if the GOOGLE REVIEWER thinks they are not misleading. So its a real grey area
  • I check my web logs everyday to make sure no visitors ever visit the same page or pages multiple times whic is a sign of click bombing, if i found an infraction i emailed Google every time. Plus the email I got from them never mentioned invalid clicks.

    I guess my advice would be to have sites that look good and have good original content. Lay the ads out so it does not look like they are the only thing you want your visitors to see. Although i had a few sites like this and still got the boot.

    Its really hard to say because Google offers no feedback to publishers.

    I guess the biggest piece of advice would be to have oter income streams, i had heard this all the time but never paid much attention to it. Now that my adsense is gone so are my online earnings.

    I am making a little with clickbank right now and I know i will surpass my adsense earnings with clickbank but its a frustrating mental struggle to have to start over.
  • From my own personal experience and the experiences of others it is very difficult to get your account reinstated. Unlucky for getting banned and good luck in the future.
  • I don't want it reinstated. In fact i am excited at doing other things where i have more control and less restrictions.

  • Yup, i just started a small clickbank campaign and made two sales so far. Not as much as i would like but its in a niche i know inside and out so i figured I could quickly write 150-200 articles and get some cash flowing back in. that way so i can learn a little more about selling clickbank stuff. Right now its simple article marketing with a redirect to the sales merchants pages.
  • Fair enough, that is where everyone starts from. If you able to write and submit the 150-200 articles then you should start to see a significant increase in profits sooner rather than later. Can I have a look at your sales page? Just out of interest.

    • Man sorry to hear about this captivereef, I really thought that with the changes that were done, you may have been able to pull through. Even though it is not proven, I would have to believe that having unchanged PLR on a thin adsense site may have to be another reason for Google disabling accounts.

      I know that having adsense under the titles is becoming a problem more recently as people are receiving warning letters about this.

      I remember reading a couple personal blogs elsewhere (can't remember the blog url's) where people had MFA sites together with unique content sites mixed in their account and they removed the ads from the MFA sites and saw that their CPC on the unique content sites increased significantly. It appeared to them that having the MFA sites was having a negative effect on their whole adsense account. So it may be possible that a few bad apples can cause a negative effect on the whole account.

      I'm guessing with the economy and financial crisis that is happening now, advertisers will want to have the best value for their dollars and I would have to think that this will be on sites that have unique content and have value for visitors and not sites with unchanged PLR that may be on hundreds or thousands of sites. So Google may be doing some house cleaning and getting rid of the bad which can be mixed up with the good.

      All this is just speculation as they are not giving valid answers as to why they are disabling some accounts but it really stresses the importance of diversification though.

  • you gotta stay positive or you will never get any farther. I look at it as one door closes another opens. I have made three clickbank sales so far since getting banned and once i ramp it up i figure i will be making more from that then from adsense.

    I picked a low paying product but its something i have been involved in for 10 years so writing about it is simple. It took just over 300 hops to get those three sales and I wrote about 30 articles in about a week on my lunch hour at work so i think i am gaining ground.

    I actually prefer this method over adsense because their is no looming feeling of getting watched by the BIG G

      How much traffic did you get to them sales which made them 3 sales

      What conversion rate did you get for them 3 sales?- using the traffic volume you got to them redirect pages ?

      eg, 200 visitors to them pages made them 3 sales, so conversion rate = 3/200= 1.5% conversion rate

      what was your rate?
  • about 1% took about 100 hops to get 1 sale. I have 26 live articles right now and another 10 in que. I am trying to write 3-5 per day then i will be putting up some usfree ads next week and starting a quick blog on the subject. Once i can make at least 1-2 sales per day i am going to promote another product and try to build a list with it instead of just redirecting.

  • Very sorry to hear your lost man. BAse on what you are saying its very hard to distinguished what are the main reason or reason why they disabled your account. I think regardless of what you do it seems that whatever those people at Big G decides prevails. Not to mention they are not saying anything as you said. That's totally unfair! But i think there's nothing we can do can we?

  • I've heard lots of stories that adsense being disabled. I'm sorry to hear your lost and good thing you were able to get back almost 3/4 of your money.
  • Hi, Im new here. In fact i just signup today. Hearing GA banned, makes me feel weird, confused.How actually GA team trace invalid clicks,Invalid traffic, or any violation of GA TOS.I really confused. The truth is, i did know one friend who did not get banned from GA even though he is clicking his own GA ads. I don't know what method he used, but he did it for years. I'm really confused. Feel sad hearing that honest guy being banned from GA.perhaps someone play dirty on you captivereef ?

  • I have about 7 sites under the one Google account, but I also have Google Adwords Professional accrediation with the same account, so hopefully that should ad some weight as I am actually bring customers to them that want to send money adversiting with Google + other engines. Part of the way I help other businesses that having nothing to do with Information Marketing be successful online

    I have zero PLR content and no set adsense templates. I don't think Google are looking only to have large major partners, I think that they just want to ensure their users and customers are getting unique content, if everyone simply used PLR material then the search and ads results and experience would be diluted.

    It is just part of ensuring you actually work hard at what you are trying to create instead of taking short cuts and cut and pasting a PLR site up and drive traffic. Might get you something short term but I think to really have success you need to understand what people are looking for and deliver that information. That will keep them coming back again and again to your site, more money for you and more opportunity.

  • Did you ever drive Adwords traffic to your Adsense sites (Adsense arbitrage)? I got one of my Adsense accounts banned for this in 2007. They did let me keep my other account.
  • I have just received my third warning letter, it looks like that I could be next. The two preveious letters were for domains that had expired but this one is for an active domain. I used an eBay cookie cutter site for that. I have now removed adsesne ads from all similar sites but still have lots that could be construed as MFA.
  • Derek, watch your web stats. When google was looking at my site the the visitor log just said google. right before they banned it the visitor was Google IT 15 minutes later mine was gone.

    I never drove traffic via PPC EVER

    • Thanks, I have removed Adsense Ads from 40 sites bought from the same cookie cutter source already. However, I have at least 500+ sites left that could be construed as MFA. There is just no way I could remove Ads from all these, it would take at least a month and even then I would not be sure.

      Fortunately, Adsense now only account for a small part of my earnings and would not affect me that much if I were banned.

  • i started article marketing a clickbank product and have made some OK money, not as much as adsense yet but close and once i get enough articles in circulation for the niche it should be much more. I only have 43 article live right now but am shooting for 100-150 then a blog, usfreeads and some other stuff

  • Yeah i am moving that ay to, just sucks to start over. I do feel alot more relaxed knowing i do not have to worry about Google taking me out with no explanation.

    Mine too was disabled few months back. Some mad fellow was clicking on my adsense using the same IP address. That's how i was kicked out! But there are other program that works better than google adsense and does not have any restirctions at all. I am using CB proads, it works like adsense but only better.
