AdSense Earnings Update

Day 36
Total: $58.30 BEST DAY = $4.80

Thankyou WarriorForum

Hi guys, since I joined a few months back I've really learned a few things that have really begun to start to pay off.

Two weeks ago I started a good old fashioned blog style site just writing about things I enjoy writing about.

Since then I've written about 5 decent quality articles and inserted adsense code on the site.

Manually created about 5 High Pr Do Follow comments on blogs in the same niche on each article on the blog.

And that's it really.

And over the past 3 days I've gotten a fairly good clickthrough rate (I've been constantly changing the adsense format each day to see if anything changes) and the blogs already made just over $6, nothing huge but money is money I guess. So I'm pretty happy as this will hopefully pick up as the sites begin to rank better and get more targeted traffic.

I'll try and keep this updated to let you guys know if I start seeing any improvements.

I might end up outsourcing the articles and or SEO once I get a bit more cash.

Will maybe write an article or two for other sites like ezines to get some link juice.

I think I might vary the number of backlinks created plus the quality of them to see if it is really the SEO which is making the difference or if it is the quality of the articles.

If it is the SEO then I'll obviously start paying more attention to that.

Jackson

It is the SEO and content that counts, concerntrate on building backlinks from high authority websites.

You will also need to optimise your website around a certian keyword.

Well you can build content slowly, once the website has around 30 unique posts, all you then need to do is one or two posts a month (max)

You can then concerntrate on advertising and backlinking.

I see you are really not looking for google traffic...did u do any kind of keyword research?

Congratulations on making it this far, there are many people who don't!

It must be great to be blogging about a topic you have a genuine interest in. If its converting well and making you money, you should focus your efforts on turning it into an authority site on the topic.

I would recommend this over creating many micro niche sites. Writing for them can be a pain in the butt especially when you are not interested in the topic or there is not much to say about the topic.

Currently a new site won't be seeing massive amounts of traffic from Search Engines. However, in the long term these relevant comments on relevant sites will help my site get ranked in Google as they are seen as valuable and good backlinks. Soon I will start to see more traffic from Google and help my earnings increase

As for keyword research, while I do believe it is important being able to have quality content for that keyword is more.

Congratulations on such good result. Success breeds more success so try to find what works best and stick with it. If you are already getting consistent traffic and getting clicks, it may be good to increase the no. of pages with more keywords. You will get more traffic coming to your new pages. Good luck.

            Well done and congratulations...

This is a great way to get started and to build up an income

I try to build 1 or 2 page Adsense sites then automate the promotion because if a site is only earning me $2 or $3 a day i don't want to spend too much time on it. I generally leave the site alone for 6 -9 months now and let the on page seo do it's work... then if it's earning some money then I'll do some more promotion and aim for top 3 of google.

            But a word of warning...

Stay doing what you are doing now but Don't get blind to other methods and keep an eye on the time it's taking to generate the income. There is no worse feeling than spending 5 hours on a site and earning a few dollars and knowing you could have created a product in the same time and earned $1000 dollars or generated 200 subscribers.

Yeah thanks, some valid points there. Currently its really only a 30min to 40min a day thing (if I choose to write something) if not then only 20mins really so I'm not really going out of my way to earn a few bucks rather just seeing what it takes to achieve a few bucks consistantly with AdSense.

One thing I would recommend is NOT changing your Adsense layout every day but give it a bit more time, such as a week, to get a better sense of what is working, or not.

Yeah thanks, I must admit it wasn't my first attempt at creating a successful site. The first site I started wasn't really that successful but I started seeing what it took to make a successful post/blog.

Currently the main traffic is from referring sites and 1 long tail keyword. I think because the comments I post are relevant they do pass on some highly targeted and I guess 'warm for a click' traffic.

TIP: Insightful comments don't just provide good backlinks on the right blog. For me, they are a way to research my next post. After making 3-5 good comments I have enough Ideas and information for the next article I will write and base it off of this.

There's some good advice here. Firstly though congratulations for overcoming the first hurdle most people have...Actually taking action and doing some thing. Believe me I "learned" for 2 years before I actually put my money where my mouth was and the difference has been great.

So keep learning off others here and give yourself a good pat on the back!

        Well done.

Yeah cheers thanks. It's really a hard line to take, you want to really know what you are doing, but at the same time you won't really know what will work untill you actually give it a go.

Exactly, but best to try, fail and know what doesn't work than never try at all. Better still, as in your case, try and succeed in finding something that does work.

            Good luck chap.

I would like to add my 2 cents here. When I first started my site end 2007, I never expected to earn much money. First 15 days from adsense $12. One month later, $41 etc. I was adding content to my site steadily and social bookmarking like crazy then.

Today, this site has 60 pages and earning $95/day on average. 2 months ago, earnings fell to a low of $35/day due to the lack of SEO and fresh content for a period of 6 months. My serps fell rapidly.

I did SEO for 2 months and earnings and serps are back where they were before. I am sharing this because I have only 1 website and you can make money with adsense if you take a long term view of it.

My point is : 1 solitary site can earn you a decent income with regular update.

I agree with you. Personally I think if you write these pages and optimize them with related (secondary) keywords, that's even much better. Do it like a couple of keywords for each page.

Thanks for the feedback. With AdSense, if you mean being approved into the program I would suggest create a blog on blogger. Either create or use some PLR articles over a period of a few days and then apply for the program. This should be enough to get you accepted.

haha yeah, the difference between AdSense earnings and Cycling is that once you've established a base you can start to really slack off and still see some decent AdSense earnings, unlike cycling where I've got to keep on going.

It took me YEARS to make even $1 on Ad Sense. Now I do pretty well, but there are still days when I make nothing. I'm working on my SEO though. I'm still fairly new to the whole optimization game. I get 99.9% of my traffic from referrals, direct traffic and social media. I can't even imagine what my ad sense earnings would be like if I could rank somewhere in the search engines. My highest ranking for a keyword right now is page 4. Dismal...I know!

That's unfortunate, you may want to make sure that your on page SEO is good and then try and build a few High Pr backlinks to get the ball rolling. The keyword(s) that you are trying to target may also be too competitive so you might want to look at something with less competition.

Not just onsite seo although this is important too but Make Google love your site i.e. get Google to trust your site. When you know how to do this and actually get its trust, getting backlinks is not so important anymore because you will get top search engine ranking.

          Thanks for adding that Peter.

But yeah getting google to 'trust' your site can be hard, let alone heading in the right direction before seeing any results can be hard too. But I do agree in the long term, the trust Idea is a big factor. In the short term good comments on relevant blogs/sites can help get you headed in the right direction (which is why I said 'get the ball rolling' in the post you were quoting).

I know my on page SEO was not good until very recently. I did get to page 3 for my primary keyword yesterday...so that was good.

I'm not so great at getting backlinks. For some reason, I have difficulty commenting on a lot of wordpress blogs. My comments just don't show up. I've guest posted on some pretty big sites, so that's my saving grace.

Yeah I have considered it but I am not sure about the profile link part but I have definetaly thought about press releases. However, I am trying to achieve maximum AdSense earnings with the minimum amount of time, so I think for a press release to become really viral I'd have to make a really good one and find a good/cheap/fast way of distributing it.

Text links work far better (for me) than images. I place them between the title and the post and get decent CTR (Click Through Rate).

Currently I am using a (336x280) box or a (300 x 250) and as someone suggested earlier I do place my ad below the header too.

At the moment I only display a single box on each page as this is meant to contain the higher paying ads because only 3-4 positions are being shown as opposed to the top 10.

Spending hrs on blog commenting is far more time consuming.

Outsource link building is the fastest way.

Additionally - i know your writing about what you love - and thats cool - but that leaves the avg CPC rate to chance. If your topic draws advertisers @ .10 avg CPC versus a topic you dont love generates a avg. cpc of $4.10 and its easy to rank .... I learn to love another topic or pay someone $5-8 who does love the topic to write 400-500 words on it.

No offence taken at all Steve, rather you hit the nail on the head. I'm trying to keep it simple because I think a lot of the time people can get caught up with things which are maybe a bit unnessacary as opposed to doing the simple things right.

Cant remember the author's name, ebook called $5 a day. Basically it explained about targeting keywords on google with 1000 to 3000 searches, doing a google search for each keyword found, add up the PRs for each result in the top 10, divide by 10, if above 3, chuck the keyword away. I checked the results of that against Web CEO and it matched up recently.

    Congrats on the success

I've just subscribed since I'm in a similar position too (have created many sites before, but only decided 2-3 months ago to start doing it 'properly': now my site's averaging at around £1.80/$2.90 per day) so it's good to see your progress.

Out of interest, how are you finding high PR blogs to comment on? Is it mainly doing it 'by hand' via Google or are you subscribed to a list which gives high PR blogs to comment on periodically?

I've got a friend who made a little program which works rather well but you can also do it manually. Searching for things in google like

      KEYWORD1 "leave a comment"
      KEYWORD1 "powered by wordpress"

This should help you find some good ones or you can be as simple as

Jackson, well done with your consistent effort, it shows that consistency works. Here's a suggestion for you. I don't know how many pages you have on your site now but you should find out where they are all ranking.

You see the jump in traffic from a page that's positioned at say number 4 to one that's in the top spot is substantial (10-20X), if you can find some pages that are loitering halfway down the first page then some times just a few back links can push them up almost instantly giving great returns.

First You need to find out what keywords from what pages are starting to bring you the traffic. You can get this info from either web master or analytics (google) then look at each of those pages in turn and see where they are ranking and if any are in the sweet spot (4-8 ish) build some links to them targeting the newly found keyword and enjoy the traffic.

I have used this technique before to great success. You see when you start to get a lot of content on your site, you start to rank for lots of long tail keywords by accident, this method is just capitalizing on the information google is telling YOU, go with the flow and let google lead the way!

I use te rank checker in market samurai and enter all the keywords google has told me about in my analytics account. At the press of a button I can see what pages are ranking for what keywords and if there are any gold nuggets there ready to jump on. You can do this manually just takes longer.

I don't know what your niche is but just keep doing what you are doing and you will soon see double figures consistently every day-in my opinion, bigger sites with more depth are the way to go for stress free long term profits, and you are halfway there my friend

Thanks for that post sitefurnace was good to read.

Yes, I think your right when it comes to choosing to try and target one page for a bit longer to push that keyword up in rankings as oppossed to having lots of keywords floating around in lower positions, when 1 in the number one spot would be the best.

      Thanks again

You can also try this. Don't just focus on keywords to rank on Search Engines. Also find keywords that you don't intend to rank in search engines. These would be keywords that people are searching for and have high competition but you know as a new site, is virtually impossible to rank for. Choose those keywords that have high CPC and create the new pages using these keywords.

Currently I have about 12 articles on the site. In hindsight this was maybe too much to begin with, but then again having them for a longer period of time on the site is probably a better thing.

However, I am probably going to only write 1x more article per week from now on as I think this will be sufficient.

As someone else said the benefits you will recieve from having a top spot on google for a decent keyword will be a lot better in the long run. So I am going to target this with more backlinking and bookmarking.

This is how I think I am going to do it.

Spin 20 unique versions or so of the article containing the keyword I want to target.

Upload these versions to high PR Article directories and Web2.0 sites.

Jump on my bookmarking accounts again and bookmark each of these Web2.0 properties

Hopefully this will create some depth with the backlinking. Although I probably won't recieve direct revenue or substantial amounts of traffic from these sites, the SEO benefit recieved should be good.

    Day 30

Wow, so it's been 30days and I've made over $30 so I think I am off on the right foot. As I said in the post above this one, I will be concentrating on SEO rather than content. Even though I am passionate about the niche I am in, I enjoy playing with SEO concepts to try and achieve the best rankings I can achieve per keyword.

So tonight and tomorow I will work on creating some web2.0 profiles with a random link structure i.e. some to inner page, some to index, some to other web2.0 and some to both.

I am going to try and create 10 or so before I bookmark them.

As much as I would love to tell everyone my site, it won't happen (for now anyway) sorry .

Obviously if I start telling people what my site is that will just increase the competition for the niche I am in which will make it harder to keep earning money in the long run.

Really it shouldn't matter if you see my site or don't see it because I am being very open in the methods I am using so I don't know what you would learn by seeing it.

    Day 31

Finished creating 20 accounts on some High Pr Web2.0 sites. I then took the article on my site and spun it into 20 versions and submitted these to the sites.

I then linked some to inner pages and others to the web2.0 properties.

I then bookmarked about 3 of these properties 50times each.

One of my good friends helped me out by making a small piece of software which pretty much streamlines the whole process.

You could try SocialMarker.com but I don't know how effective that site is.

Are you going to be making the web2.0 sites into a link wheel or more of a pyramid?

Nothing done today, but again had my best day so far with earnings. Looked like linkwheel and social bookmarking has helped.

I just started my AdSense journey a little over 4 months ago. You can view the video on my site and see that I jumped almost $300 from one month to the next.. and I'll be up another hundred this month, which means I'll break $500 in just over 4 months. For me, the secret is just to keep putting out more websites every day with the right content... and I do no back-linking or social media advertising. With a lot of sites, I get a lot of fails, but I definitely get plenty of very successful ones that hit the front page of Google in no time. I am loving AdSense!

Thanks for that, I have heard of InfoBarrel but when it comes to a revenue sharing site I have had some success with hubpages but I might try InfoBarrel aswell.

Good luck, don't be disheartened if it doesn't work out straight away. I don't think I was lucky but I think the more I start thinking about researching keywords + good content and SEO the more I should start to earn.

Wow that's great! It is hard for me to decide what to do. On one hand good content should in time really increase SEO, traffic and AdSense earnings but on the other hand if I just start to target some specific keywords myself with my own backlinking I might see more revenue early which I can then reinvest into more content.

you are exactly right. Regardless of what you choose, you've made the most important decision of all.. committing and sticking with it. I've shown a couple of local friends how to do this and both of them quit in the first week saying it was too time consuming. The most important thing is to just accept and believe that it's going to happen.. and accept no other outcome... and you genuinely sound like you've made it to that point. The rest will happen. Congrats on your success and keep it up! I will be checking in as well.

Just spent an hour going through this thread and will now recommence my adsense sites. We can all learn from others with different income streams. I focus on my products and lists but could definitely diversify a bit.

Thanks for sharing your experience and I wish your success.

Good Luck Nigel, I think you are 100% correct when it comes to having multiple different streams of income.

While I do believe when you make $1 you want to try and make $100 with the same method, having several methods can always help, even if one isn't as successfull as the other it is still good to have a go.

      Good Luck Again,

    Great log!

Your system is sound and you stick with it. I think your results are pretty good already if they are consistent.

I would recommend learning all you can about onpage SEO though. Wordpress makes that very easy using plugins.

Yeah, that is something I am fine tuning at the moment. Trying to target internal linking structure.

      That's unlucky.

Well you can build strength slowly, when the site has about 30 unique messages, all you need to do is one or two posts per month (max)
