Questions about using 'all in one seo pack' for Wordpress

Hi everyone,

First, I'm sorry if this seems like a stupid question, but I'm relatively new!

I have a Wordpress website up with a blog page that's been up for about 6 months. The site has actually been up longer, but I switched it to Wordpress then.

Anyway, this is a site for my business and I've been working on SEO-ing and it's been working pretty well. I rank pretty highly, etc.

I want to see if I can rank better and try to rank for some new keywords and see that lots of people suggest "all in one seo pack." for on-site optimization. I've downloaded it but haven't enabled it yet, because I'm afraid it will automatically make changes to posts I've already made and that would be problematic.

I have about 20 posts and did my best to keyword optimize them in the text, tags, and permalinks. If I enable it, will it change lots of things that I did manually? For example, I have the permalinks to display as date/post-title, but I change the 'post-title' to be keyword relevant.

Basically, I just want to make sure I don't enable it and cause any problems with what's already up on my blog.

Any help would be appreciated. I thought I'd post because I was having trouble find any information on how it affects what's already present on a blog.

I wasn't sure if there were certain settings on the plug-in that I should make sure are in line with the way I've already been doing things.

Thanks! And, also, thanks for all of the great information that I've gotten here over the last 6 months or so!

Still wondering about this. I know my question was a little vague, so let me be a little more specific, in case anyone has any input on this.

I have a Wordpress website/blog that's already been in use and has about 20 blog posts. There's lots of links to these posts coming from different places.

Enabling All in One SEO Pack doesn't alter the URL's for these, right? I know it may rewrite the titles of pages, but just wanted to be sure.

I was just a little nervous about it making changes to content that's already published and 'out there'...and any impact this would have.

Thanks in advance for any input! I just have been having trouble finding any info about using the plugin with an already existing blog.

All in one SEO pack will be completely safe to activate and won't change your URL structures.

When you activate it, you are required to fill in the admin page, this contains the title setup of pages/posts, to you can select to keep them as date - post title if that's how you want it.

Once activated, you will get a few extra option at the bottom of each page/post edit screen. These are defaulted to be blank. - If blank, they revert to your original keyword/title/description settings. So in other words, these will not change without you going into each one and saving some parameters in the boxes.

Once activated, just view your site for any problems. If there are any problems, simply de-activate the plugin and your site will revert to how it was before you activated it.

    No risks

    Roger, hi,

I wrote this article a while ago on the best way of setting up and configuring the All-in-one-SEO pack. Be sure to read through the comments - there are a lot of details in there:

Thanks to both of you for your input! Before I came back to check for replies, I actually went ahead and enabled it. Everything is working fine.

Abledragon - Thanks for the link to your guide! I'm going to check it out thoroughly.

For anyone else stumbling onto this thread because they had questions on the same topic, in addition to Abledragon's guide, here's another one I found online that's very good: w w w. jackleblond .com/all-in-one-seo-pack-configuration/

One more question I'm curious about. Now that I'm using All In One Seo, is there any advantage to using it's 'title' 'description' and 'keywords' section for each post rather than using the 'Headspace' section of Wordpress to type in that info? I know there are options to have keywords and descriptions automatically filled in, etc. But, if I'm doing everything manually on a post-by-post basis, does it matter which one I use?

Not really any advantage. But it does keep everything cleaner and whatever is entered into the All-In-One=SEO fields will overwrite anything that is already in these tags.

Either way, the tags will look the same to the search engines. I just use All In One for everything to keep it cleaner.
