Can the more experienced warriors recommend where to get decent links from?

Im new and although ive looked through the forums quite a bit, i wonder who can RECOMMEND somewhere i can get half decent links from. I have read that blog links might be good to go for -is this correct?
I definitely dont want 50,000 links at once or anything too black hat just recommendations form people who have used this or that service? or advice on where to buy some decent links, without getting any old crap.
I dont expect any trade secrets giving away lol, but just a head start as to what to look for
