Anyone ever tried overthrowing guitar tab sites? (Micro Niche)

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried overthrowing the big guitar tab sites for long-tail keywords like "band song tab" or "band song chord." I've been looking and some of these searches are pretty high with what appears to be low competition via Micro Niche Finder's SOC (Strength of Competition).

I know the #1 site is usually Ultimate-Guitar who is a monster in this niche but I'm assuming since they have thousands of pages with very little anchor texts back to them that they could be easily overthrown, like Amazon or Ebay.

Anyone ever tried a small, adsense based site in this niche?

"band name tabs".com + "guitar lesson" keywords + adsense = win?

It may equal lose your Adsense account since the content would be a copyright violation and would probably cause you to be sued. Harry Fox Agency, the agent for most published music in the US, has been rather aggressive in going after guitar tab and lyric sites, especially those with a US connection of some type. Ultimate Guitar recently worked out a licensing agreement with them and that was after years of legal wrangling.

Yep, I would think that's the main reason people stay away from guitar tab sites. I love them of course, and think they're a great resource, but thanks to the lawsuit happy gang, it wouldn't be something I'd put to much time into.
