Ask.com tosses in towel to google.

Posted this in another thread, thought I would make it a thread of its own.

Ask.com has seen the writing on the wall and has tossed in all
the search operations with ask.com. They will now concentrate
on the Q & A.

Can't say ever trying to topple google with search is ever a good idea.

  • Well if they don't continue partnership with Google, Google will be out a few bucks.

    I wonder if anyone will ever be able to compete with Google in the near future.

    They started as this almost cult search engine and it turned into a monster.

    Still returns the best results though.
  • I remember when I briefly switched to AskJeeves back in '99 in hopes of seeking a search engine superior to Altavista or Yahoo.

    Oh the painful nostalgia of unfulfilled search queries. Curiosities left unanswered until the day the magnificent Google rescued my intellect.

    Wolfram Alpha, now that's a REAL computational knowledge engine!
