SEO Hosting vs. Reseller

I'm doing SEO for a local business and set them up with host gator's sister site seohosting.com. I did this because I built them a blog network.

Personally, I have a reseller account and it occurred to me that when I look at all of the different accounts, they're spread out among different IPs.

Is there any advantage of having the different c class IPs you get through seohosting.com vs. the random IPs I see in the WHM of my reseller account?

Thanks!

  • Nobody has an opinion on this? I'd really like to know because the reseller account is cheaper and if I can accomplish the same thing using it instead of the c class ips that'd be cool.

    Thanks!
  • Having class "c" ip addresses is over rated if you ask me. The only benefit is if you intend to interlink all your sites for backlinks. If you don't, then don't waste the money.

I can tell you this, seohost.com has horrible support and bad uptime stats. In fact they're down again right now.

    • This is exactly why I'm doing this. I've been using seohosting for a few months but haven't noticed any problems. Maybe I've just been lucky.
  • Not sure if your using host gators reseller account or not but if you are as far as I know host gators reseller account doesn't give you control over differnet c class ips. You get different ip's but they may or maynot be on different c classes.

One of the many factors that Google looks at when it comes to rankings is ip diversity and from what i can remember, it is up there on their list of things that they feel are important, since a wide spread of ips happens when people naturally link to something.

So if your main purpose with this blog network is to use it for a backlinking campaing then I would definetly want them on as many different class c ip's as possible. Even some variety with the class A and B would also be nice but now your looking at even more money for that.

    • Thanks srbilles. I don't have a thorough understanding of the different IPs (a class vs c class,etc.). I thought it was just a matter of looking at the addresses to see if they're different.
  • One of the most important aspect of a good Search Engine Optimization is the amount and quality of inbound links. But trying to trick search engines by creating websites yourself and linking then to your main website was useless because they were all hosted on the same C Class IP. Until now...
SEO-Host has launched the Multiple C Class IP SEO Hosting services. Now you can create backlinks for your websites from a single hosting account managed in WHM.
  • I tend to think that your better off buying hosting from different companies than through seohosting.com or the like. It appears to me that Google is smart enough to tell who owns those IP addresses and it could look spammy when linking sites together. However, if you were to buy hosting from separate hosting companies ( BlueHost, KnownHost, HostGator, Downtown Host, etc) you would be better off.

Also, if you $10 per month then your cost is not that much more. You could get 4 different IP's from different companies for $40 versus getting all your class c IP's from one company for $35.

    • That's exactly what I was doing per Jeff Johnson's recommendation. When I saw the chance to have separate IPs from one company and hosting panel, I decided to try seohosting.

In the future, I'll probably go back to the old way. Thanks for the advice.

  • If you can host your websites on different IP addresses, its better specially if you want to link to them from each other. f you can't afford buying different servers from different companies, buying SEO Hosting which gives you C class IPs is the best way. At least its better than hosting all websites on one IP address.
