Any tips for Google Places Rankings?

    Go to google maps, add five or more reviews using different Google accounts and proxying through different IP's.

    Put up a custom image and add as much information as you can into places. If there are multiple locations, then add them all and rate them all.

    Optimize using standard SEO, use a geographical keyword = city, town, region and in some cases, street (like say sunset blvd, everyone knows where that is)

    Take pictures with YOUR camera, it seems to make a big difference if you use stock off the shelf photos that Google has seen perhaps thousands of times before.
