Moving Indexed Content to New Site-An Issue?

I have a site that had some problems when I updated the theme, and I can't get it right again. Even with changing the theme, the formating is all wrong. It was a new site without much traffic and only a few links, but the content was indexed.

Can I move that exact content to an existing site, remove wordpress from the old site, build some links to the new content, and be OK without any form of 'penalty'? Everything would be exactly the same, title, tags, links....

Thanks for any help

    Hi Jen,

Brian's link is exactly the way to handle moving content or adding new content to replace old.

However, your issue seems to be more about the fact it's indexed than keeping incoming links working etc, and I'm not sure why this is.

Getting new WP content indexed is trivial and should happen on autopilot if you have the "notify update services" option selected in your WP config.

So, I don't think you actually need to worry about your situation.
