Google Position and Browser

I am pretty new to IM so I come across things I don't understand everyday.
Here's one of them. I have a movie website. When I check my keywords on google with ie I'm position #27, when I check using chrome I am position #9, and recently when I checked using firefox I'm not on the first 10 pages. Why do the results vary with different browsers? How do you all check your position?

Thanks,
Deb

    Personally, I use Market Samurai.

If you are signed into your account on Google, it can effect your rankings.

Yes, Google tends to "remember" your search preferences, so when you search on Google in your browser, you're not getting the real, raw result.

In order to get actual, unbiased Google results, first go to www.pagewash.com, then go to Google, then do your search.

Huh... if I do this, it shows me on page 2, but if I do normal google search I'm on page 5, even when signed into my account. Does that make any sense?

        (yes, it's google.com, not a regional version)

It sounds like page 2 is your actual position then. It's been known to happen.

PageWash should give you the most unbiased results.

If you use your firefox browser you can go up to your "tools" tab and under that click on "start private browsing"

This will give you the accurate results.
