Competition Question

I am researching competition for a keyword I want to build an Amazon site around. The current 3rd result for said keywords 654 backlinks, and when I check the backlinks with yahoo site explorer, virtually all are coming from the same site, like this: www.mainsite.com/page 1, www.mainsite.com/page 2, etc. Checking page rank of individual pages, almost all are PR 3. The top 2 results have virtually no backlinks, and neither of these 3 results have keyword in URL. What do you make of this one result?

  • As you said, it seems that this keyword is low competitive that first websites are easily ranked well without having quality backlinks. If you checked it true and the result was as you said, you can start working on it now.

    • My question is, if the 3rd result has 654 PR 3 backlinks, but all those PR 3 backlinks come from the same place, is this hard competition to overtake?

  • The keyword is a good niche to go after it has low competition and you should rank easily. Did you check the traffic the keyword?

    • Yes, 4400/month for exact match. Traffic is good I think, I just want to make sure I am evaluating competition properly.
