Micro Niches with a Location

So I was digging around MNF and found a great micro niche with low competition strength and high traffic, too keep it that way I am not gonna mention what it is but the question I have regarding it has to do with SEO.

The niche is so good because it refers to a specific location; so when I throw it into Google to take a look at the competition I noticed a problem. because it refers to a specific location Google likes to throw in a map on the right site and refer to local shops which have websites and rank those 4 - 7, I know I can over take spot number 3 or even 2 but it still worries me that Google has this, is this going to make it harder or should I not worry and the fact they are local mean nothing and will still follow the same SEO rules.
Is it worth going after this niche?

  • I understand your concerns but you don't have another choices if you want to work for the keyword you are talking about. I think its better that you start work if you are sure that you can become #2 or #3 in Google.
  • if you're concern about the map on the right side, don't forget your targeted customer is looking on that side as well... Go for PPC and test it.
  • I have never tested such a niche (with maps on top).

Personally, I think it would affect the CTR in the SERP.

But common sense tells me visitors will also look at the top 3 site listing after looking at the map.
  • Thats what I was thinking too, I think I am gonna go for it anyways, Im pretty sure I can overtake 2 or 3 in a few months they are pretty weak.
However I feel like it is only going to work if i can get my site in one of those spots otherwise no one will ever scroll down far enough.

    Thanks for the input
  • Yeah.

You should go for it. Test it out.
