Hey guys,

I seriously need your help. I have a website which I built in july this year and its my first website. My main keyword is quite competitive not very competitive though. After getting many backlinks my website managed to get rank 6 in google for my main keyword.

And my problem is it was there on page 1 for around 2 days and after that it suddenly disappeared, it again came back after 2 days and was on 8th and then again it disappeared it has been 3-4 days now and its nowhere in the serps. I dont know what the hell is happening as its my first website it gets very frustrating sometimes. After working hard for around 4 months now to improve my rankings and now when it comes on page 1 it got disappeared.

It happened last month also when my site was on 12th it came back after 15days.

Someone please help as I really want to make some money.

Fluctuations are normal. Especially now, while Google is sorting their index/algo out.

It's hard to say why you've vanished w/o knowing the site and what you've done in terms of links.

If it's the site in your sig, "last post: August ..." isn't very enticing.

Hang in there, keep building up the site and get as many quality links as possible. Don't chase algos & don't employ every scheme you read about.

And in the meantime, try optimizing for some long-tail, less competitive phrases. It doesn't hurt!

It happens some times and i have seen such problem yet. Don't worry about it. Wait some days that the position of your website to be stabled on Google. Check it some days later and if your website returned to previous position, its OK but if it doesn't rank, you should be worry about it and check your backlinks or seo works you did to see if Google penalized you or not.

      Hi abhijeet024,

You have 2 issues that are contributing to your rank fluctuations.

First, since your website is a blog your homepage content is changing with each new post, so your page relevancy is in flux which effects your SERP rankings. This is a common issue for most blogs and you should accept that this is the nature of ranking blogs.

The second issue is that your website content is new and you are likely seeing a temporary boost in rankings, due to QDF (Query Deserves Freshness), followed by your page sinking to it's truly earned ranking. This how Google works you should expect this and get used to it.

If you focus your promotional efforts on your individual post's permalinks you will be able to get those pages ranking well and eventually hold rankings over time. You don't need to promote your homepage when you operate a blog and you will probably see better results by promoting those individual permalinks instead.

Your site likely needs more time... The more competitive the vertical, the longer it typically takes to rank well consistantly. Just continue to build links and generate content. Rankings will come in time.

    Hi kingofseo,

There is no sandbox, except where you find unicorns and mermaids.

To all you young SEO folks under 12 years old, there is a sandbox and unicorns and mermaids are real, so is tooth fairies and goblins and boogymans. All us adults are suffering from a disease called "reality" that prevents us from believing.
