webmaster tools search query

why is it that sometimes my site is exactly at the position webmaster tool say its at and other time webmaster tool is dead wrong.

i have a 25 page site and in my webmasters tool it says i rank for 442 search query, sometimes if it says my site in number 5 on page one and i check it will be right there yet at other times it may say my site is at position 1 but when i check its not even on first 3 pages.

Does the webmaster tool really give accurate info?

also is it possible to get on page 1 for all of those search terms if i do enough backlinking if its low to med comp.

  • NEVER MIND GUYS I RESEARCH THE ANSWER TO MY QUESTION ONLINE, COME TO FIND OUT I REALLY DON'T RANK FOR 442 LIKE I THOUGHT AFTER FILTERING I CHOOSE UNITED STATES, AND INSTEAD OF ALL, I CHOOSE WEB, AND FOUND OUT I REALLY ONLY RANK FOR 17 KEY PHRASES.

    IN THE FUTURE I WILL SIMPLY LOOK FOR THE ANSWER MYSELF BEFORE BOTHERING MY FELLOW WARRIORS.
  • I have seen the same problem and i don't know th exact reason. Maye Google doesn't update Google webmaster tools data fast or maybe it depends to the location we search for. But i have seen it many times and its the reason that i don't care about these statistics on Google webmaster tools.
