Alright so I have a couple of questions for all you wonderful marketers

But first a quick back story,
So not too long ago I decided that CPA and Afilliate marketing wasn't for me, for some reason I didn't enjoy it and I found some of the products to be very bad and I hated promoting them. So i signed up for adsense, well they rejected me and it was because I already had an account which I forgot about! So i figured out the login for the account and got on and noticed I was making money, a very very little bit, like $0.10 a month, but still that added up over a year.
Anyways so I went on the hunt to find out what site I made back then. I found it and fixed it up making it more adsense friendly. Next I decided to see what kind of backlinking I did for the site and found articles on ezone and articlebase(back then i had no idea it wasn't nofollow but whatever).
Now back then I would write articles on the same niche as the site, so when trying out some keywords in rank checker i noticed i was on the 9th page for one, next i noticed that some of my articles were ranked on the 1st page, so first i quickly set one backlink to my new niche site on the articles. and fixed up the articles to promote better CTR to my site

Now that you know the back story even though you probably didn't need to heres where I need some of your help.

1. When searching through the first page of google looking at my competition on that keyword I had accidental success for, i noticed someone had gotten a hubpages hub to rank around 8 with that keyword, the issue is they copied one of my articles directly onto the page word for word(they even took some of the links I had as titles and removed the link part), bad thing is they included no link to the article or better yet my site.
Should I do something about this? Report it to hubpages or contact the author and ask for a link?
Funny thing is the article that I wrote and that he/she used is ranked higher on that same keyword, how did google not knock it off for duplicate content?

2. Back in the day I used free blogging platforms, I no longer do that but would it be worthwhile to buy a domain and recreate the site on the new domain, change all the backlinks in my articles to that site, and just rerank a new site? What kind of problems would I be facing? would it be easier to just leave it alone and continue fixing up all my old newbie mistakes, and adding some stronger backlinks?

Thanks for any advice

-Mike

Hey Alphazulu! I can't speak to how Google determines what content is going to get punished for being duplicate. I have never been able to see any pattern to it.

    1. Question...Did you personally write the article? If you did I would definitely contact the (author?) article thief and demand some sort of "value in kind". Definitely much more than a link. If you can not get it I would report the person to hubpages. That is the sort of loser crap I can't stand. If someone is too lazy to do their own work then they do not deserve the rewards. You did the work on that article and you deserve the results of that article.

    2. My only thought on this would be that instead of buying a new domain you may want to consider buying an old domain that was created more than 2 years ago. That would increase the effectiveness of your seo efforts.

As to the rest of your question I won't even give my 2 cents because I couldn't speak intelligently on the topics.

Hope it helps in some way.
