Does a NON-indexed article mean worthless backlinks?

A number of my ezine articles have not been indexed, even some pretty old ones. I've used methods that get my new sites indexed within 5 minutes and they haven't done anything over the course of a few days. Does a non-indexed article mean the back links on the article are worthless? if so, why does google refuse to index some of my ezine articles?

If they are not indexed then they don't exist (at least in the eyes of google) and therefore would not be able to count as a backlink. Are you sure the articles have been published? If so have you done anything to get them noticed? If I were you I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway, there are much better sources for backlinks and the time you are spending worrying about these extremely low quality backlinks you could be spending on getting more and/or better links.

If Google or Yahoo! hasn't indexed the page then Google (or Yahoo!) isn't going to be registering that backlink to you.

Msg me the URLs - I'll get them indexed tonight!

We'll see if my indexing strategy works at all!??!

    CHEERS!

Oh, and articles do give good backlinks - just expand your horizon to other article directories (GoArticles, Amazines, Articlebase, etc.) The nice thing about Articles is that you can target your keywords in the Anchor text of your link, and if the article is completely relevant to your site and keywords, then you're getting a Relevant backlink!

Backlinks from article sites are awesome, but I would suggest bookmarking the articles in order to get them indexed.

You could maybe use angela's backlinks on the articles as well.

All backlinks will be counted when search engines crawl and index the pages you got backlink from. When the article is not indexed, Google didn't record it in it's database and it can't help you.

yeah i've submitted the articles to multiple social bookmarking sites, but still no indexing. Like i said i get my new sites indexed in 5 minutes, so i'm not sure why it refuses to index my articles.

If not index it will not count as backlinks. You can create rss feeds for those article and submit it to rss feeds directory or you can social bookmark it to get index on goolge. Ping can help as well.

Try submitting new articles to get one of your articles on a higher PR page which will transmit PR to your other articles via your profile page. Try to write articles that will get syndicated to get further PR to your profile page. Bookmark your profile page and then bookmark the places that syndicate your articles. Then bookmark the profile pages of the bookmarking sites.
