Hi

Recently i ve noticed that more and more forums where i try to put a backlink in,allow bb code but not 'url' bb code. Is this just to stop you placing an anchor link altogether or does it mean that a different bb code could be used?

Also im sure one of the last backlink packets i had said to put my link in the sig but not to post. Does this mean that you can still get a link (only on some forums)from adding your signature even without posting?or that the spiders pick your sig links up without posting. I thought you had to make a post to make your sig link count?

thanks

Its possible because many webmasters are aware of this link of link building and don't allow making profile with a link and leaving forum for ever. I don't like this method for link building at all. There are many better ways.

Sometimes they require more than X number of posts before you can create an outgoing link.

Yes, but like most guys on here im just after a quick backlink- so thats out of the question. It just seems more and more foums are making it harder and harder to get any anchor text on their forum.

Whatta surprise! People don't like their sites being spammed! Who would have ever thought of that!

        Basically, you have two choices.

First, you can go the automated route and use a tool like xrumer to splatter your link to unmoderated or poorly moderated forums where it might stick. You won't care that a certain forum won't permit your link. You won't even really see it because it's all automated.

Second, take the quality high road, participate in forums and build enough reputation to be allowed to leave links without question. This will help your search engine traffic as well as getting you direct referral traffic from the forum.

          Hi

People will have different opinions but I dont consider what i do to be spamming- that is to say i do put my links onto forum sites etc, but i dont put more than a couple of links on any one site. I have seen what i call spamming (say 30 links in a sig) and it just ruins a good site for everyone else.I totally agree with what you say about building reputations, but from my (limited) experience although there are a few sites that let you post sig links, most dont and there are few sites in my niche to use. So i have to get links from whatever sites i can, and these sites often jump on you for leaving a sig link.

Of course you have a lot more experience than me but do you find that
you just use a few select forums and get sig links on those is better than puuting a backlink on lots of different sites?

And also using xrumer-its too expensive for small fry like me isnt it? around $500 to set up. I have seen other firms doing xrumer blasts for around $50, but is it worth risking your sites reputation?

          thanks

The opinion that you need to be concerned about are forum owners and participants and most of them will consider it spamming even if you don't.

I've found this to be effective, especially for long term rankings. Of course, participating meaningfully in a forum is time consuming so you have to factor that in.

I think it's very worthwhile if you have an ecommerce site or the like. With a little work and good customer service (aka relationship building) you'll find forum members to be your best customers and promoters. For affiliate marketing sites, probably less so, but it can still work for you.

Forum webmasters are getting smarter about this. You really need to post helpful comments and posts if you want your signature links to stick.

Some webmasters do disable certain link codes, this is an easier way out, i prefer x posts before signature links become active as it helps screen out some of the link spammers.

There are plenty of forums that allow anchor texted backlinks, just keep an eye open for those kind of forums.

Are you using Xrumer? That would be the easiest way.

Most all forums these days require the end user to have "X" amount of posts prior to having the signature field un-locked. It cuts down on the amount of single posters and spammers a lot.

Yes in regards to the forums not set up properly you can get a backlink from only creating an account and applying a signature to your account. the signature displays on your members profile page. There are a lot of people that do this with tools like SeNuke.

If your seeking a good method of building backlinks off of forums I suggest you do this:
    • Do a google search (w/ forum filter applied) for a key phrase that pertains to your site.
    • Sign up with the forum(s) that meet your niche requirements.
    • Go into your control panel and create your signature. (Link & Description)
    • Use the forum search module to pull up niche related forum topics that pertain to your site.
    • Reply to the niche related topics with niche related useful information. (dont link drop unless called for!)

By doing the above, you will find your site getting very useful backlinks that will help your site.

I sign up with no signature, post 5-10 replies in their forum, then come back a week later and add the signature with a link. I rarely ever see them removed if I do it that way.
