what are the best tools for checking you competitors keywords to see what keywords they are targeting and using to get traffic?

SEM Rush, Spyfu are both monthly subscriptions

anyone have any recommendations ?

  • Well i know it is pretty limiting but you can always try something like "back link watch" This will at least give you an idea of some of their anchor texts that they are targeting. I am sure there are some better free tools that blow the limits of backlinkwatch out of the water. I am looking forward to reading more recommendations from my fellow warriors.

    • Check out SEO Spyglass. They have a free version, you can't save your projects, but for checking competition on the fly it's pretty good.

      It's shows you the backlinks, anchor text, page PR, domain PR and loads of other useful stuff.

  • This is kind of bad of me but i get backlinkteam.com to do a report on my website which includes an analysis of my competition... this way theyre spending the money on the monthly subscriptions and not me lol
