the link in forum profile, Is it a backlink?

hey, I'm a quick question, I registered in a forum which didn't give me access to reply to the topics there & it doesn't has a signature option, but only way I've found to put my link is in profile, is it a backlink & google will knows it as my backlinks, and how if I'll get right to put my comments, is the best to be active in forum or just put the link in profile & go is enough?

  • Unless there is any signature option, your replies would not be counted as backlinks. Profile updates are good but they would not be reflected while you reply others. So for link building, you need to have a links in signature at least.

    • Not necessarily true. Your links would not be counted as links with anchor text as a backlink in the case without a signature. If you put your URL in your profile, and post, they are inbound links, but without anchor text.
  • Guys, any link from <href> tag to your site is a backlink, independently of where is it from, what is the anchor text, etc.

    The important question here is what will be the JUICE of such backlink. Regarding forum profile links, in ~2008 Google has eliminated value passing for profile links, since too many spammers get to use this method.

    • Nothing personal, but I'd be REALLY interested in hearing where you heard/read/saw that, because I don't believe it at all. I use forum profile links all the time and they're great for SEO purposes.
