Here's a Cool Backlinking Trick

Aren't we all looking for cool little backlinking tricks that work?

Here's one that will give you good results if done correctly ...

Leave backlinks on different IP addresses - as simple as that. This will help you achieve two things:

a) Create diversity to your whole backlink structuring

b) Give you some high quality link juice

Make sure you're looking for .gov or .edu links from countries like:
  • Vietnam (vn)
  • Russia (ru)
  • China (cn)
  • Philippines (ph)

The reason for this is that their websites are really easy to post on, be it blogs or forums. Leave useful comments and target sites related to tourism, sports, technology, education, etc.

When looking for different IPs, type the following in the search box (an example) -

inurl:gov.vn/forum
inurl:gov.vn/blog
inurl:edu.vn/forum.

That's about it!

    Hi Mustafa,

Thanks for a nice tip. I agree with you that backlinks from .edu.tw or edu.xxx can be easily obtained as compare to .edu/.gov site. Most of such sites are non moderated so its easy to work on them.

But I am just curious about how many links you obtained by following your method.

    Thanks

Let's just say that I've been obtaining enough links in addition to my other link building methods. It's a good tactic to add to your daily SEO routine, but like always, you can't rely on just one method

What do you mean by different IPs for the backlinks ?

Are you just talking about using these.edu and .gov from different countries ?

Cause no matter what page you log into, your ip is the same unless you use a proxy ?

What this method refers to is obtaining backlinks from a variety of different ip addresses, instead of a bunch of different websites on the same block of ip's.

For example, let's assume that you go ahead and comment on a few blogs: xyz.wordpress.com / abc.wordpress.com / blahblah.wordpress.com - all of these blogs are going to be on the same IP block, since they are all hosted on the same servers. The company obviously doesn't have to use separate blocks of IPs since it's not needed.

You should aim for blogs like: stevenjim.myowndomain.com / bloggingisgood.com/blog / coolwidgets.com/blog of that are each hosted on separate servers, having totally unique ip addresses.

So here we're referring to the ip address of the websites you're posting on. This is in no way related to your own computer's IP address that you're accessing the internet from.

Tum, I cannot pm you but have sent an email that I think may have ended up in your junk mail. This is regarding "the bot" I purchased it, but did not get a link to download it. Could you send it to me? If you pm me and give me your email address, I will give you mine. I had emailed to xxx@ntlworld.com requesting the link. Thank you in advance.

If the page where your link resides has no link popularity on it, then it is worthless, even if coming from a different country extension.

Google likes proven link popularity to pass.

A PR0 page with no real link popularity is still worthless to you.

However, the OP is right in the context that if you have links from other countries, that does bode well for Google perceiving that your site has more value to a world audience.

Quick question. I started trying to get edu and gov backlinks buy creating a public profile on a bunch of edu sites. I have only posted on one of the forums because I heard that you don't have to post on the forum to get the link indexed. I created 10 to 15 links about 3 weeks ago now, but none have been indexed. Any suggestions.

      Thanks,

        Aaron,

It depends on what sites you're posting your links on; it'll be difficult to say as to why none have been indexed yet.

I am just wondering how useful it is to put backlinks on some sites that have low page rank, or Google finds them irrelevant because they produce low-quality information - spam.

Do backlinks then help you, or in contrary, decrease your page rank?

Hey. Great tips you've got there. But what you mean is having backlinks different country-level domain extensions and not different IP. Unless you use a proxy that is. It's very good to have backlinks in different country-level domains. It can give credibility to your site by being available and accessible to other countries aside from your own.

The benefits of spamming .gov forums are not readily visible. I would strongly suggest not doing this. You can do it, it won't make any difference to your rankings in a negative way but also in a positive way it won't make any difference so really not worth it.

Also while I am on the subject just so newbies (and oldies!) know before they start spending fortunes on links: paid links are not going to improve your rankings, link exchange programs are no good either. If you do any of this STOP right now and see if your rankings go down. You will find that they don't! Google is not stupid!
