Hello.
What do you guys think ? Is it worth getting expired domains with high Page Rank regardless the domain name/subdomain?
Will the Page Rank drop even if the website is up and running again?
I would really appreciate some info.

I think it's worth. But depending on your niche too. How sure can you be that niche will be successful? Also, you might want to check if the domain has got some good backlinks. If the price is affordable, then I say, go for it

Is it even possible for a normal person to try to pick up an expired domain? I also had that idea, but then I read that it doesn't actually go onto the market for a random amount of time until after it "expires", and they are usually hammered on by those companies that pick up every random domain that expires.

You can buy this type of domains on domain related forum like namepros. But you must be aware that its kind like hit and miss when you buy expired domain, some of them will preserve their PR but some will loose it right after you buy it, I have experienced both.

My advice is, check the backlinks, high PR domain should have reasonable amount of backlinks and backlinks from another high PR domain. If the domain still have page indexed in google, ask the seller to include the site files if he has it. If not, you have to build some backlinks from another high PR site right away after you bought it.

Then create few original content, and build another backlinks. But like I said, it's still a hit and miss process and you have to be ready to loose the PR when you invested your money to this kind of domain.

      Thanks all for the info.
Well the thing is that I found a method to get free domains/subdomains with high PR , quite new and I haven't seen ppl talk about it anywhere.
      I've made a list of 5x PR4 , 21x PR3 and 40+ x PR2 and tons of PR1 , PR1 I don't think is worth the hassle.
As there is no costs involved I figured I can use them to pump up my main websites with backlinks from these high PR pages.
Most of them have crappy hostnames so I can't really use them to a specific niche .. so if you guys have more ideas of how can I use these domains please share them.

      Thanks !

You can get these expired domains but it can be beneficial as well useless too.

As fullmatrix mentioned first of all check it's worth in search engine world by checking how many back links it has right now from high PR site.

I have seen and there are some sites with High Page Rank ( PR5, PR4, PR3 ) that don't have even one single backlink (Or just a few) according to google.
How do those websites got high PR without backlinks?

It's faked by some sort of redirection method from another high pr domain, you can check whether it has valid PR or not via checkpagerank.net

If it doesn't have valid backlinks, the PR of the domain is most likely fake.

Are you talking about the person that is selling the list of expired domains with PR and back links as a WSO? Seems like the chances of picking up one of these is slim and none. There are back orders for anything that would be any good, I would think. Plus lots of vultures waiting to strike. What chance does someone like you and me have of picking up anything that is worth having? Not much I would say.

It is worth it if you can get it.

But you might find the competition for those names a little stiff.

I'd ignore PR1 and PR2. You can easily duplicate that without the baggage that comes with a site that closed for an unknown reason.

please beware that many dropped domains are with fake pagerank, usually the high page rank dropped domains will be snatched up by namejet, snapname, pool very quickly and put on auction, it is quite hard to get cheap high valid pr dropped domains.

i have also noticed some valid pr but with less than 50 backlinks...one of the reason is that it is long abandoned and google haven't update the pr yet.

dropped domains without lots of backlinks usually couldn't hold their pr when google update it.

It can worths but usually pagerank of expired domains drop after buying them. Its better that you check the backlinks of them and if that website has a lot of backlinks from different websites, its better. But if it has backlinks from some websites, it doesn't worth in my opinion.
