Expired domain process

I bought some expired domains few days ago on GoDaddy and they are now telling me to wait a whole fortnight before I can take them over. I am bit afraid that if I do not do anything, some hidden deadline I am not aware of, will expire.

Is it common to wait for 2 weeks, till you can transfer the domain to your hosting provider?

I could be wrong, but I believe that even when a domain expires, there is a literal 30 day waiting period for the orginal owner to renew. I remember having an in depth conversation when I first set mine up years ago, because I too was also looking to jump on domains that were expiring and was concerned about missing a renewal date. Short story, is you are given ample time to renew, emailed, emailed again, and due to online banking, "cheque in the mail" sort of things, a set amount of time must go by even after the expiry date for the domain to be forfeited by the original owner.

I have not heard it yet. Are you sure about it? So we can renew our expired domains within 30 days?

With Godaddy if you got it from the auction you have to wait until the last day where as they give a chance for the past owner to claim it...If they do not claim it then the donain is pushed to your account....

Yeah, that is definitely true. I read GoDaddy's terms & conditions. They sometimes call it grace period, sometimes redemption period.

I am not clear how long it is, though. I can only confirm that it ends exactly 2 weeks after I won the auction. In the case that original owner wants the domain back, GoDaddy is obliged to give me a full refund. That is what they say themselves.
