Fellas,
I am curious to know that besides Forums and Article distribution, what are the cutting edge ideas for creating backlinks that Google will not discount to zero?

  • Web directory submission. Buying text link ads on other sites and blog commenting. Social bookmarking & Q & A Marketing (like yahoo answers).

    • Web directory submissions are old-school. They used to work, they just don't cut it anymore. They can provide a little benefit and possibly help your PR over time but the amount of time you need to spend to submit to this many web directories is just not a good investment for your time.

      Q&A Marketing can work great for direct traffic, but Yahoo is nofollow so your links aren't as strong as any dofollow links.

      I'd say article marketing has been around for a long time and it will last for a long time too, it is probably the most stable way to gain backlinks to your pages.

      Web 2.0 / Social Bookmarking would be a 'cutting edge' method and one that can be great for SEO benefits. However, there are so many ways to approach it, any spammy strategies will not be worth the time it takes to implement them.

  • The best strategy is to create content that is good enough that you get backlinks naturally as people want to link to it.

    There are so many strategies, for example creating simple software that you submit to all the software directories.

  • I suggest you to write articles then choose some blogs and social bookmarks and then make link wheel using them Its the best strategy in my opinion. This method covers most effective methods but with a different structure.

      I suggest you get more backlinks to the site and the link should be one of the important keywords in a site that brings your site better rankings in search engines those keywords.
