hi fellow warriors,

how do you search for keywords that you are going to write on your article? i've been lurking around and reading tons of info in the forums and i tried searching for this topic but i cant find any. if there is, may be my eyes may be fooling me. so here goes.

let's say for example i have chosen my niche and it's martial arts. i want to write about "whats the best martial arts for self-defence?". how do you go about looking for the keywords and applying them when writing the article? (this is just a random niche. you are welcome to use a different scenario when explaining)

i'm not sure if i've done the steps right. correct me if i'm wrong. i'd usually go over to google keyword tool and search for "best martial art for self defence" and use whichever methods that comes out in the list for the article. is this the right thing to do?

from the looks of it i dont think i'm doing the right think. i hope to do it right and would love to hear fellow warriors giving some advice/tips/hints on how to optimize you article keywords. a step-by-step method would also work out fine for me cos i love step-by-step methods.

Ok, are you talking about articles that are to be placed on your own website? Or articles that you are writing to submit to directories for backlinking?

Each scenario has very different methods.

    Please clarify...

As the title suggests "article marketing", I believe you are referring to writing and submitting articles for backlinks and SEO?

    ...

In this case, the best method for me is this.

If your WEBSITE is about martial arts and the page you are marketing for is specifically targeting the phrase "best martial arts book" (for example), you could write articles about a similar topic and similar keyword. - I normally go for a very low competition keyword to do with my niche so that the article itself gets a decent ranking and thus increasing my website ranking by association.

So I would go for "morning martial arts training regime" (I haven't checked competition or traffic on this btw). I would optimize this article for this term.

I would then include an anchor-text link back to my "best martial arts book" page by using the keyword "best martial arts book", therefore giving me some SEO benefit by association.

You could then even create more related articles targeting both your websites page AND your articles, this will give the article more authority and increase the strength of your original links. - But that's a different topic.

    Hope this makes sense!

If your problem is finding keywords for your articles i think using Google Adwords keyword tool ( which you are using now ) or similar softwares like Market Samurai is the best way. There is not many other ways for finding keywords. Why do you think your doing wrong? If you don't get the desired result from your article marketing , i think the problems something else not choosing keywords. Whats your strategy for article marketing?
