i normally use 2 or 3 words in my anchor text but i was looking at my google analytics to see what people type in to get to my site and some of the phrases were 4 and 5 words long so just to switch things up a bit i wanted to include these in my anchor text but i wasn't sure if that was a good idea.

So i just wanted to know whats the general guidelines on how long anchor text should be.
#anchor #have or help #plz #text #words

I believe that most article directories and places wher you can leave your resource box have a 5 word maximum.

    Those were my observations.

Usually visitors in the market are always into 2 to 3 words onwards to search for their desired site my advice is to have your keywords more specific and easy to familiarize. hope this helps.

yea i know enzine articles only allow 3 words i think, or 4 if your article is longer than 500 words but right now i'm building profile links so i guess i can get away with having 4 words, but i spin my anchor text a lot goin from 2 to 3 to 4 so i should be good. thanx for your input.

most of my anchor text is a exact match phrase for what i am trying to rank for but i thought having anchor text that was longer might help me rank for more terms.

ex: if my site was getridofacme.com maybe my anchor text would say fight acme, but i was thinking about having a anchor text say (how can i cure my acme) because this is a term someone may type in.

      thanx for your help.

Use Google Keyword Tool and see if you can find some less competitive and popular keywords that people see, that would be short. You can use up to 5 keywords, but people tend to use shorter words for their searches. So my advice is to research keywords for your niche and find the easiest ones (big popularity and low competition)

Usually optimizing for longer keywords is easier than general ones. But it depends on the traffic they can bring for your website. If number of their searches is near, choose the longer keywords and as i said, you can rank high for it by choosing it. But if the difference between amount of their search is high, you don't have any other choice and you should use that three words term.
