.co Domains

Does anyone out there know how Google classifies the newer .co domains. They are advertised as "premium domains," but how do they stack up against the .com, .net, and .org group? Google love? or Google slap?...

  • The more time I get under my belt the more I realize that it doesn't matter what extension you use... SEO and unique (good) content will get you better rankings, regardless.
  • Yeah I think as long as you set up the site probably then it should be okay. I think Google just see it the same as .net or .org

Same as any domain. Do the SEO work and they get ranked. I have several that rank high for their keywords.
  • They are not any better or more valuable in Google's eyes when it comes to SEO. Some people may be trying to portray the .co domains as being "premium", but I think that is pretty subjective, kind of like how beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder!

  • It's important to remember that a certain extension of a Domain will not take more preference over good regular quality content/back links.

I've not had any experience testing .co extensions but I tend to stick with what I know and what has been tested, especially if you're only thinking for SEO purposes.

    All the best....Peter
  • Extensions don't matter I believe, but that's my opinion
  • The TLD really does not matter when it comes to ranking a site (Google has confirmed this in several interviews), so if you're going to get a .co domain it has to definitely be for other reasons!
  • From experience I can tell you that it really doesn't matter. My .co website still works well. Just as the other warriors advised here, do the SEO work and apply some good content. They rank well when the right things are done.

  • Hi,
This depends upon seo of your website and not .com or .edu etc

    • <sigh> another one....

Google the following bold terms below...

This does beg the question, have you ever searched for info on Noam Chomsky? How about regular expressions, roman coins, craft ideas, or how to check your page rank? Maybe you've never needed to do some research to find out if New York was a sanctuary city or to find out something about New York transit. Did you ever look into Spain tourism?. Oh, and have you thought about moving your money to a local bank before you go shopping on Black Friday?
