What is the best and smart way to get more backlinks?.

By writing quality articles to your blog and syndicating them to major directories. If you commit to providing quality first and foremost, you will attract natural backlinking.

Profile backlinks help to index well. You just need to familiar with some tools and foot prints of Web 2.0 sites.

Here are the items I use in my current plan:

1. Articles to EZA, GoArticles, Articlesbase, and a few others.
2. Videos to YouTube, Ebaum's, MetaCafe, and a few others. (Using TubeMogul)
3. Press Releases usually only to prlog.org
4. Blog Commenting (Quality comments adding value to the post.)
5. Posterous Blogs and using the Autopost function to distribute content to a variety of sites, including Facebook Pages, Google Buzz, Flickr, Picasa. My normal autopost group will have 8 to 10 sites.
6. Social Bookmarking
7. Creating additional blogs on Wordpress.com, Blogger, Squidoo, etc.
8. Networking with other blog owners to do guest posts, trade links, etc.
9. Links between my related blogs if it makes sense for the flow of a conversation in a post. (I currently have 8 live blogs in one market, working on different niches within the market.)

I've tried posterous but I can't get anything to be dofollow. Social bookmarking is awesome on the right sites. Article writing is good on some sites to dominate page one(and two).

Press release submission can quickly get you some good backlinks. You can also send articles through article syndication sites like UAW. The links come really fast once the articles get spread around the various blogs on their network.

The best way to get more links and do it quickly is through ODesk or www.backlinkteam.com Odesk is great if you want to manage your own off-shore team and know alot about managing a team and giving them the right instructions when starting out. Backlinkteam.com is great when your new to backlinking and want quality backlinks at near the same prices of ODesk. They are also in the US and manage an offshore team which keeps your costs down. I think a smart way to get more backlinks is to use automation, sounds right, like in BMD you can create thousands of backlinks in a day, thousands of backlink a day is not bad.

Forum backlinks certainly help. But I think article posting is the best of the methods.

The best strategy was given by Barry...if I talk about my favorites then there are 2 of them - blog commenting and article submission.

Article submission and block commenting is the way to get more back links.

I don't think blog comenting works anymore. You see a lot of spam in blog comments.

Keyword-rich Article posting is the best strategy imo. Articles aren't considered spam. Google places a lot of value on links from Ezine kind of sites.

I read someone mention posting videos using tubemogul. I am not sure how that helps in building backlinks because top sites like Youtube don't provide dofollow links. Are there any video, photo sharing sites and slide sharing sites which offer dofollow links? I haven't seen any.

There are several ways to increase your number of backlinks. Writing quality articles and syndicating them to major directories, pinging the published article & submitting it to social bookmarking sites are the smart ways to get more backlinks.

Publish articles on article directories like ezinearticles and goarticles. It may take some time for the article to be approved, but once they are approved, you'll continuously see more backlinks to your site. But remember to write a quality articles with useful content for your article to be approved.

4) articles on web2.0 sites
5) forums (put your link in your sig)
6) forums (put your link on your profile)
7) directories (paid and free)
8) create link bait (content that people link to)
9) link exchange (not as effective as it once was but if you can exchange links with a good, relevant website, then there's nothing wrong with doing so.)

I think often people who want a lot of links who don't know much about SEO / Link Building treat it a bit like the people who want to know how to "make money online", almost expecting a secret button you can push that spits out 1000's of links.

There's only a handful of ways you can get links, you don't need to use all the ways possible, but if you are persistent with a few then you'll get good rankings eventually :-)

The best way to get links is not to simple just go out and "get links" for the sake of it. You should analyze your competitors to see where they are getting their links from.

If the website at no.1 gets all of it's links from blog comments then that will be an easy strategy for you to go and copy all of their links, it would be pointless to sit and write 100's of articles when you probably don't need to.

For fast link building i suggest you to write article and submit them to article directories and also use social bookmarking as it works very fast. Also press releasing is another fast method. But i suggest you to concentrate on quality instead of speed or quantity of backlinks.
