So I have this site.
It's a PR 5 with an Alexa rank of ≈420k. It's a B2B portal and extremely business oriented.

Someone is asking me how much I would charge for a banner advertisement for three months.

I'm really new to the whole PPC and advert thing. Could anyone help me with ballpark figures for varying banner dimensions?

The website is question is rusbiz.com, by the way.
It ranks #2 of 9.3 million for the search term 'ecommerce network'.

Traffic stats don't matter much. What matters is that someone wants to buy
an ad. I sell only text ads, but get from $30-$650. (Yes, that's $650)
When someone asks you, (and I get emails all the time) it means they
have done a little digging to find that you are worth buying. Well, I get
mostly emails from link brokers. Once they find you, they will keep coming
      back to the well.

If the banner is static and not rotating with others, $25 a month would
be a fair price, depending placement location, and whether there are
other ads, like adsense on the site. I always tell people they can sponsor
the whole page and no other ads. Hence, the $650 price.

But in the end, you make the decision. On slow days, I'll sell links cheaper
over time, but get more up front. Now $25 is just a starting point, not
written in stone. You asked, I'm answering.

I do have several people pay buy subscriptions, but many like getting
a better price by paying for more months up front. It's hard to
say no to people who have cash in hand.

I also have a "buy an ad" page which spells out many prices.

There really is no set price. I've given my piece and over time you
will get a feel as to how much you should charge.

The thing is, money in the bank is better than a customer walking away.

There will be many who say $25 is too high, some too low. If you like,
offer at more, then negotiate. Start at $100 a month if you like.
Then maybe $250 for 3 months. Like I said, there is no set price,
only what you are willing to take. Money talks.

Welcome to world of selling ad space! It rocks!!!!!!!!

traffic stats do matter, if they didn't then a company such as Blog advertising makes opinions - wouldn't display them. With those stats we can get the number of impressions for the page monthly, in my opinion for your first ad sell, you should shoot for anywhere from ($.30-$.50) per 1000 impression. If your visitors click through rates on current ads are upwards of 10% you can charge as much as $3 per 1000 impressions. The sky is the limit, all depends on your traffic

The number of impressions is a meaningless figure. Many of people in my group
sell what some would call "unlimited" impressions. Limited only by the number
      of visitors.

When people find your site to target, they like what they see. They have
probably figured out you are attracting the kind of people they want.
You have a site that they want a link from. They already know a little
about your stats. They are thinking great link, nice exposure.

CTR on banner ads is dismal. Nowhere near 10%. You'd be lucky to get 0.1%.
But in this case, CTR is not a factor either.

They are hoping for a few targeted visitors, and maybe a little PR help.
And that you can give them.

Remember, your site is not icanhascheezburger. Any comparisons to what they
      charge are moot.
