By using Link Directories, especially if you successfully submit a link that is approved in a directory.

I suggest you to submit your website on Dmoz and forget it. Because it takes a lot of time and maybe more than one year that they approve your website. So don't waste your time and energy for approving on Dmoz. There are some other quality directories that can help you.

I tried to become a "moderator" for the dmoz a long time ago before I ever got into IM/SEO/SEM - it was a "topic" I was very passionate, involved, interested, and knowledgeable about. Even with my credentials and available spots, I was denied (at that time). I did kind of foul up the application a bit though!

There are several Warriors who are moderators.

EVERY submission is manually reviewed. So it does take time like said above. They are very picky and very meticulous. If you have a spammy, slapped together site then forget about it. If you have an aged (1yr+) site with quality, unique content you might be good... Depending on the category and how many sites are already categorized there...

Apply. The BEST advice I can give is make sure you spend hours, days, weeks! on the application for submission! Make it golden! Oh, yeah, but like I said if you have a new, semi-spammy looking site, you're out

I agree that a DMOZ link can be a great SEO boost to a site, but is it really worth weeks of work to get in? The link sometimes shows up on a low PR page anyway, and for the time it takes you to spruce up your application, you could have gotten hundreds of great links through other means.

I haven't seen any evidence that Google treats DMOZ links with a kind of halo. They're just links, albeit high authority links. But those can be found elsewhere, too.

Become an editor (in the relevant category) and approve your own website.

      This method should work 100%.

This is in fact the quickest way to be BANNED as a moderator. Do not listen to this person they have no idea what they are talking about.

You do your homework and get back to me. Youtube vidoes mean nothing. I've been there and done this and know DMOZ mods... It's not how you OBVIOUSLY think it is.

And a YouTube video is the most discredited source in my books....

It takes long to get approved in DMoz.org, but if you are really in haste to get high quality links from topnotch directories, then it's best that you go for Yahoo Business Directories, though it's a paid service, but definitely offers a high quality link similar to what DMoz is capable of offering.

A couple of other tips I head from some 'expert'. check the last update date shown on the bottom of the page, if it's been a year, try to find a more lively category to submit to, look for the lizard mascot at the bottom of the page, customized reptiles show a commitment of the sections editor.

Yea you hear stories about corrupt editors, some index submitters have received odd related product offers that whisper of a connection to the editor. There's some 2006 vintage talk on the subject on corruptdmozeditor.com.

You can find sites with either DMOZ or Yahoo directories listings that are inactive, there's a potential to approach the owner and negotiating for the domain while it still retains it's age, this might require (dread) actually talking to someone on the phone. Usable Yahoo entries seem more plentiful than on DMOZ.

Yahoo listing were free before 2002, if you can find an aged, "grandfathered in" site to take over you can dodge the annual $299 renewal fee. I've compiled quite a list of inactive sites that I may be publishing here later...

As I read the article, does it postive or negative feedback?

Anyway, the secret of getting index is to wait and have a little bit of patience.

It's easier said than done but I guess when it comes to paid well,
definitely you get instant results rather than free.

Better try that domz thing. Lol

        Thanks for a tid bits.

it is not difficult to get indexed in dmoz, but it is just the matter of time.

in the mean time, check whether you are fulfilling the following conditions:
    1. see that the content is descriptive as much as possible.
    2. see that you select appropriate category.
    3. do not hype the titles and description on your submissions.
    4. as the directory list alphabetical- do not give a title alphabetical to come up, it should be under your domain name only.
    5. do not submit duplicate url's nor do not submit url's which redirect to other url's
    6. and see that you submit once in 3weeks.
    7. last and the most important point is- have patience.

Don't do that! At worst it will get you banned for spamming; at best it just overwrites the previous submission with the new date which is a realy dumb thing to do.

Once you have submitted ONCE to the one best category, then you have done all you can do. There is nothing more you can do. Anything you do try (eg resubmitting) will count against you.

Submit once; more on; forget about it.

quickcashstrategy - if you are talking about the site in your signature, it would have been rejected within seconds of an editor looking at it. its not listable.
