Hi Warriors,

I need some suggestions on creating a blog for a niche I am into. I want to make it so that it is optimized well for search engines with my long tail keywords. So, how many keyword phrases should I use on one blog? 5, 10, 15? These will be low competition keyword phrases. I really just want to create it so that I can write a few articles and get a few backlinks from forums, blog comments, etc and it quickly get traffic from search engines.

It is a Blogger blog, and I know I need more than just 2 or 3 keword phrases because it would look silly to keep having posts that contain the same keywords over and over. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Tess,

as many Longtails as you can find. 1 For each page TITLE.

I'm not sure if Blogger has advanced over the years but they didn't use to allow keywords in the url but if you can find a plugin that would be great And also please let me know if you do.

    Are you hosting it yourself?

Also you want to arrange your meta data etc for each page, again I used blogger a while ago so not 100% on their limits. If it's not to late to switch to WP then do it. And if you're not hosting yourself do you really want to build the blog up with the chance of Blogger taking it down at any time?

I monetize each page for a longtail keyword and usually have the homepage targeting a whole list of keywords.

And yes you're right, sprinkle related keywords throughout all pages (2-4 is perfect IMHO).

Wanna know what I'd do?.. Build 1 page and get it ranked high for that keyword using backlinks with the keywords in the anchor text and only when Google indexes you for that keyword do you move on to the next

    All the best,

    Louis

    Louis,

Thanks for your input. I'm not really sure how to use page titles on Blogger, so I believe I will try Wordpress. I've heard many good things about WP.

I have a big website that I use SEO as you described above - 1 main keyword for each page, and many on the main page. That works really well. I achieved a PR2 for that site when it was only 2 months old, and it's a work at home site, so I was amazed.

    Thanks again for your help!

      hey Tess,

If you want to rock the search engines with a blog you absolutely must use WordPress. WordPress is the best blogging platform when it comes to search engine optimization.

You can absolutely rocked out when you use this platform. But, there are a couple things you should know.

The first, is you need to use the proper plug-ins. Your first plug-in you absolutely must use is the all in one plug in. Do a search on Google and you will find it.

Next, make sure you always fill in the all in one Seo data. This will make you rank higher than most blogs. Why, because people are too lazy to actually do it.

So, this will put you at a great advantage. Sounds stupid, but it works.

      Regards,

Don't just use wordpress, HOST IT on your own domain, then you rock. Use as many Longtails as you can find. Make all the longtailed keywords "pages", that way the keyword will be in the page URL title. There are a ton of plug ins to make your wordpress do just about anything you want. If you want to know which plug-ins to use I am putting together a plug-in list that I use, I may even bundle them together and offer them as a free zip file.

Everyone is absolutely correct. You must have your blog on your own site.if you are not putting your blog on your own site you are making a big mistake.

You are building someone else's site and not yours. That blog could be taken down for any reason at any time. You do not have any control over the content you put there.

So, go grab a cheap hosting account with A Cpanel. Host gator has very cheap and reliable hosting.

I think a free Blogger Blog is your best bet . It is best optimized for the google bot and google search engine. After all Google owns Blogger Blog so it kind of makes sense, right .
But go ahead and Buy your own domain name above anything else. I wouldn't worry too much about buying hosting !! Its free at Blogger and the thing is if google by some chance closed your free Blogger Account down you still have your own personal domain which commands the Traffic you have worked towards. With just a blogspot domain name you are not owning anything.
So spend the $9 at godaddys !! Its worth it and then you can start building those Ugly but totally effective free Blogger Blog Sites

Use tags wisely for your long-tail keywords. I personally prefer hosting a wordpress blog on my own domain. You should consider it because it will give you much more control on SEO and plug-ins that you can use.
