Hello everyone,

There are theories that search engine algorithms change every year and there are also rumors contradicting that, if they these algorithms change, how would you explain those old sites that lacks seo on page and off page optimization but still rank number in search engine.

I think Yahoo and Bing's algorithm will change next year because there's a news that these 2 search engines will unite/fuse to become a more powerful search engine; (I actually don't know their reasons why they will unite )

If ever algorithms would change next year, which algorithm do you think will change? especially in Google.

  • As far as I am aware Google's algo actually changes a lot. Sure there are some major updates here and there, but they are always tweaking their stuff. I don't see Google changing anything major again in 2011--at least in the 1st quarter. Thats strictly opinion though.

As far as Yahoo/Bing? I just want to see more Bing search Ads on television. My Bing/Yahoo traffic is leaps and bounds higher than its ever been. They also seem to love my sites and SEO techniques so I hope they don't change a thing
  • Having a quick impact with a new site is getting harder. I think 2011 will continue that challenge. You have build something of quality that earns people's trust over time, and you will be able to rank.
  • If only we knew.

Well I do know the Yahoo-Bing merger is well on the way, Yahoo ad accounts have been transferred over to ms bing.

    • search engine algorithms change almost weekly, My seo software is always installing new algorithm updates
  • Two words are at the top of the tree ... authority and relevance.

Add age into this as well, but this comes into authority.

I got into a niche about 2 years ago with 4000 phrase match searches a day in the US market. Top position was a singe Geocities page that was about 10 years old.

Why does this work? Because at the end of the day users want a search result that shows them authoritative and trustworthy content that answers their questions (or needs). That is why I use Google and shy away from Bing ... because Bing almost gives me what I want where as Google does it 99% of the time.
  • Hello, We heard a rumor that Google will favor PPC customers
in their organic listings starting January 2011. Does not make any sense to me but I was wondering, if anyone else has heard this rumor too?
We currently have #2 listing in our niche, but are concerned that our site is going to be listing a lot lower if all PPC customers are going to move ahead of us.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks for your feedback.

Tweaks are happening all the time. But the big changes (google dances) seemed to have ended a few years back. Personally, my sites don't move all that much anymore.
  • I guess all we can do is try to keep up with the changes and make sure we get our information from reliable sources.
