One of my sites (health and beauty niche) was on page one for dozens of keyword phrases and got daily ~1,000 visitors from Google.
Since Dec./10. it does not get any visitors from Google, but the site is not banned, it only dropped dramatically.

The site is 5 years old, has about 400 pages with unique content and a few thousand of quality backlinks, a forum and a blog and get daily new unique content.

I have installed Mollom as spam checker and regularly delete spam posts and comments.

Why dropped the site so dramatically?

What do you mean? A huge drop on site ranking or huge drop on daily visitors?

    Both
I've just looked into the statistics:

The site gets visitors from Yahoo, a few from google.com.au, Google and google.com.sg.

The site gets many links from Ezinearticles.com

SEO is nothing where you can just stop doing it after you have achieved satisfactory rankings. If you don't keep up your SEO efforts you can (and probably will) lose your positions.

Agreed. Definitely some new algorithm at work in google. Just had an aged authority site lose it's #1 spot to page 2. Site hasn't moved from top spot for years, I mean like 3 years at #1. Site even survived caffeine.

I frikin hate it when they do this!!

The recent drop in visitors means you have lost your rankings.Sometimes a little fluctuation in rankings can harm you a lot.Make sure you have not linked to any bad neighborhood. If everything is right, then you do not need to panic,it will come back soon.

Nothing has changed with traffic of my site, the traffic only is about 10% of what it was before. Only traffic from Yahoo, Yahoo Answers, Ezinearticles.com and some other sites, but very few from Google.
Page loading is very slow. If this might be the problem?

You competitors have done something more than you in the past months.Check out for that! If your site still holds the links it was getting earlier then try for some more.If your site is indexed by google then there is nothing to worry, just a few changes and you will be on top again.

That means your competitors have started doing serious seo work than you. Dont just sit with the current backlinks you have. Try to build more. Internet marketing is an on-going process. You need to continue doing SEO to maintain your search ranking.

Where did you rank before, where do you rank now? If you go from 1000 visitors to 0 from Google, perhaps you are in a penalty?

But why. I only have unique content and no links to spam sites.
Before I'd hundreds of keywords on first pages in Google listings, now only with very few keywords at position 30-100.

What position were you in for your big traffic keywords before the drop? Did you do any large link building campaigns, thorwing hundreds or thousands of links, then stop or reduce the link building drastically?

My traffic keywords all were on page 1, I didn't have done large link building, I stopped posting articles about 2 month before.
Last 3 months before I got about 100 links from Yahoo Groups and consistently about 3 forum posts and 1 blog post every day and all few weeks a new spa review.

I checked it against the first 10 pages with IBP (iBusinessPromoter) and all parameters seems to be ok.
