Google Isn't Ranking Me in Market Samurai

OK, so this could be paranoia, not sure. Being a newbie, it probably is.

I bought my domain name in early November and have been tweaking the layout, posting content, backlinking, etc ever since.

I'm trying to rank for a specific keyword. When I run this keyword thru Market Samurai Rank Tracker, I show up in Yahoo and Bing at 15 and 18, respectively.

My problem is with Google (isn't everyone's). My keyword hasn't shown up in the top 1000 for my main page for any keyword I enter....nothing. However, my interior pages are ranking (albiet high) for a couple different, non-targeted, keywords. Now while I understand I won't be on the first page of Google this quickly because of slightly high competiion, should I be concerned that my home page isn't ranking after 45 days within the top 1000? What concerns me is I've never seen it once in the top 1000 and many of the other sites outside of the first 10 pages of Google are garbage and nowhere near targeted.

I've set up the All In One Seo plugin, so it's optimized to the full extent. I submitted my sitemaps (.xml, .xml.gz, rss feed) to Google. Could this be the issue, that maybe I didn't do this right? I'm stumped as to what is causing Google to basically ignore my homepage and only ranking for interior pages. Like I said, Yahoo and Bing are ranking my keyword on page 2.

Am I just not being patient with Google? Thanks so much for your help.

In the time you wrote this you could have put 2 backlinks... It does take time to rank, you can't be impetuous in this business. One of my issues was overcoming my immediate need for gratification. It does take patience.
Again, that is a filter to people who want to be in this business.

Thanks Eager. Trust me, I totally understand the need for patience in this game and don't expect anything to happen suddenly. I'm spending considerable time writing and link building. My issue revolves more around my main page not ranking period and my inner pages getting some love. It just strikes me as odd, but maybe that's the newbie in me talking.

I will continue to be patient and even if my main page showed at 999 for my keyword, I'd be happy because it means what I have been doing is working and I didn't fudge anything up along the way.

You can check if you are even being considered for that by manually doing an inanchor search for your keyword. Also, depending on how many rank checks you're doing it may be better to just do the "update selected" feature rather than doing everything at once. Maybe try searching the top 500 for the keyword and then the top 1000 right after.

      I never understand these threads.

Why does everyone think they should be ranked, just because...?

Then everyone cargos on about doing this, doing that, as if there is
some magic charm. Remember, they always swear they are doing it now!

We know nothing about the niche, the competition, your history, your
      competition's history, etc. Nothing.

It's time people stopped doing x,y, and z, then ranting about why google
      is not infatuated with them.

Thanks David, I do have XML Sitemaps plugin installed. One thing I didn't realize until after I posted this is that Google hasn't crawled my site in about a week.

Kevin - yes, Google is seeing my backlinks and I actually am performing backlinking of my backlinks.

Mad.hat - thanks, I tried 'inachor' and manually scrolled thru the first 20 pages until I did find an inner page of mine for my keyword. I didn't expect that. Then for some reason I couldn't get back to it. But even though, this is encouraging. Great suggestion. (The MS update selected revealed nothing different).

Paul - critisicism accepted Paul, I'm only a 4 post newbie and don't have 2100 posts of experience. I'm learning as I go and of course am just trying to gain knowledge and figure out how to improve, not just expecting Google to hand me a 1st page ranking.

Don't be an idiot Paul. The whole point of this forum is for people to ask questions and learn. If you don't want to read these posts then dont, but dont come here with your snooty comments.
