How important are links to domain and pages indexed?

First of all hello Warriors!

1st thread in here

I wanted to get some information about how important are links to domain and the number of pages indexed.

Basically I want to get ranked for a specific keyword and I'm wondering how hard it would be for me to get ranked, because the exact match domain name is available, most of the websites on the first page are no higher than page rank 3, the number of links to the specific page ranked is low, yet the number of links to domain and the number of pages indexed is high.

Damn this sound confusing, but maybe some of you who are doing SEO understand what I'm trying to explain

    generally people that have a high number of domain links are sitting there essentially because they are authority sites and have scared the crap out of anyone else trying to rank for those keywords turning them away. Say the #1 ranking site was hubpages and only had 2 page links but 1,000,000 domain links (or however many it has); it is sitting there because, well there is no competition. If you buy an exact match domain, and send a few high quality backlinks and set up your on page and off page seo in a expert manner you will easily out rank them.

    If the exact match domain is available and its a profitable keyword then you should give it a shot. You really will not know how difficult it is for YOU until you actually try it. There are some others here who will never be able to rank for the keyword and others still that can do it in less than a week. None of them/us matter, just give it shot and find out what you can do.

    Exact match domain name can help you to rank high for your desired term but you should know that the pagerank of your competitors is not the only important factor. If the competitors have a lot of backlinks and many of their pages are indexed, it shows that they are powerful competitors and you can't beat them easily. So if you can, register the exact match domain to make ranking your website easier.
