Article Marketing for Well Ranked Sites

I was speaking with someone here privately about writing an article and then posting it to a popular article site, and they told me there is little or no benefit. Instead, they were saying article marketing is better for newer or smaller sites.

Have you had any experience with article marketing for big or well ranked sites?

I do article marketing for even my big authority sites, and I believe that as a direct result of that kind of promotion, I often get people emailing me to aks if they can sponsor part of my sites or partner up.

I do like to write, many people don't, but that is just me. I do other linkbuilding, but not as much as article marketing.

Article writing takes a lot of time. Even if you are using a spinner you could expect to spend one whole day a week on them unless you outsource. But is there really an effective alternative to get variety in any link building campaign?

Any idea why they thought a high traffic link and another place people can reach your site has no benefit?

I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you too... Are you game?

When you get articles into large sites with solid traffic numbers, if you have done the article well, that can easily translate into big dollars.

I write for big websites and big newsletters when I write articles.

Getting published on a small website is fine, but the real value is getting published in huge sites or newsletters with a strong following of people who actually read their content.

I totally agree with this, and am always seeking such opportunities (so let me know if you have any).

I think the other person felt that submitting to something like Ezine Articles would not be worth it because maybe the authority was not there?

I'm really not sure, and hence my line of questioning. Thanks for the input everyone.

There are a lot of large websites and newsletters, but it really depends on the niche you are targeting.

When I used to ghost write for people, one of the best publication locations that my customers found was About.com.

There are literally thousands of these websites of real stature.

(And I don't count EZA as a website of the kind of stature I want. EZA is fine if I am looking for publishers, but it lacks some credibility when I want to talk to consumers directly.)

How does one go about getting an article published to About.com?
